Sending Smiles Bundle - Two New Blending Techniques you have never seen before! Stampin' Up! Artisan May 2022 Showcase

Hello my crafting friends,

Today I am excited to share with you my May 2022 Artisan Design Team Project. I was asked to use the Sending Smiles Bundle, which includes the Sending Smiles Stamp Set & Sending Dies. These products are available in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog & Online. To purchase any of these products, please visit my online store. The link is below in the description.

Today I am going to share with you two never before seen (on my YouTube channel) blending techniques. The first gives texture to a blended background and uses blending brushes along with the wide water painter. The second shows you how to create soft neon colors using, vellum cardstock, heat embossing and blending brushes.

Product List

Card #1

1- Stamp your images of the flowers and stems that you want to use on vellum cardstock. Add embossing buddy first to the vellum, then stamp in VersaMark ink. Cover with white embossing powder and heat set. Cut out with coordinating dies.

2- Create a blending background on one of the 4 ¼” x 5 ½” Basic White Cardstock. I used Sweet Sorbet, Starry Sky, Tahitian Tide, and Parakeet Party Ink Pads with Blending Brushes.

3- Use you Wide Water Painter with no water in the bladder. Get the brush wet and then tap on a paper towel until the bristles begin to separate into clumps.

Then swipe across the blended background once or twice with the damp Water Painter. Pick up any excess water with a paper towel. Repeat over the entire background.

4- Once that is dry trim down to 3 ¼” x 4 ½”, which is about ½” from all sides. This give the background nice clean edges.

5- Emboss one of the 4” x 5 ¼” Basic White cardstock pieces with the Gingham Embossing Folder and add it to the center of the cardbase.

6- Add the Blending Background to the center of the 3 3/8” x 4 5/8” Basic Black Cardstock. Add 24” of Black Twine to the bottom of the blended piece wrap around twine and tie a bow on either side. Then add everything to the center of the cardbase with dimensionals.

7- Add the white flowers with dimensionals in a nice arrangement to the center above the twine. Make sure to add the dimensionals behind the image so you don’t see it through the vellum – The mini dimensionals are perfect for this.

8- Cut out the “Sending” in Basic Black Cardstock with adhesive sheet. Cut out the background bubble for the sending die cut in Basic White Cardstock. Layer and add to your card with dimensionals above the twine.

9- Stamp your second greeting on Basic Black Cardstock with VersaMark, make sure to use Embossing Buddy before you stamp. Cover with white embossing powder and heat set. Cut out with one of the label dies and add below the twine with dimensionals.

All Done!

Card #2

1- Stamp your images of the flowers and stems that you want to use on vellum cardstock. Add embossing buddy first to the vellum, then stamp in VersaMark ink. Cover with white embossing powder and heat set. Cut out with coordinating dies.

2- Flip the flowers and stems over and work on the back side. Use your blending brushes and the same colors as card #2. Blend the color right on to the vellum. The color can rub off the vellum, but it will dry over time so don’t touch it too much. I used the Parakeet Party for the leaves and stems, medium size flower in Sweet Sorbet, small flower in Tahitian Tide. Then the tall flowers in Starry Night at the top and Sweet Sorbet at the bottom.

3- Emboss one of the 4” x 5 ¼” Basic White cardstock pieces with the Gingham Embossing Folder and add it to the center of the cardbase.

4- Stamp your greeting at the bottom of the 3” x 4 ¼” Basic Black cardstock. Stamp in VersaMark, make sure to use Embossing Buddy before you stamp. Cover with white embossing powder and heat set.

5- Wrap 22” of White Bakers Twine twice above the greeting and tie a bow on the left side. Add to the center of the cardbase with dimensionals.

6- Add the neon color flowers/stems with mini dimensionals in a nice arrangement to the center above the twine. Make sure to add the dimensionals behind the image so you don’t see it through the vellum – The mini dimensionals are perfect for this.

7- Stamp “Sending” on Vellum in VersaMark make sure to use Embossing Buddy before you stamp. Cover with white embossing powder and heat set. Cut out with coordinating die. Add to your card above the twine with dimensionals.

All Done!

More Cards Made with Sending Smiles Bundle

Here are some other cards I made with the Sending Smiles Stamp Set & Coordinating Sending Dies. You can hear me talk about each of these cards in the video above.

 Wildflower Garden Card

The images are stamped directly on to the cardbase. I used washi tape to separate the front into three sections.

 So Happy For You Card

The top half is stamped directly on the cardbase. The DSP has been distressed with some sandpaper. The ribbon is folded in half so both frayed edges are on the bottom.
