June 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Welcome Inn - Alternative Card Idea - Make Your Cards POP!

Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here at Creative Chelsey. I love getting my Paper Pumpkin Kit every month and creating fun alternative projects using the supplies in the kit. Today I am sharing my first alternative idea using the June 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit called Welcome Inn.

This beautiful kit creates 9 handmade cards. There are enough supplies to make three of each card. What I like to do is use the supplies in the kit along with some other products and create different or alternative projects. Today I am sharing with you a simple but beautiful card with a couple clever techniques that I can’t wait to show you.

If this project inspires you to create something, I would love for you to tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey | #creativechelsey or email me at chelsey@creativechelsey.com.

It is Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey. This is the first alternative this week. If you would like to see all my alternatives check out the playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL40dV1oxpkNmzKPHXYQ8MQH0GH1OVb3Jp

1- Cut the Night of Navy Cardbase from the Kit in half at 4 ¼”. Cut one side to 3 ¾” x 5”. Emboss this piece with an embossing folder. I used the Quatrefoil Tile. Because this paper has a white core it will break through the navy color. If you want more of this distress look, use a fine grit sandpaper to remove a little more color.

2- On one Envelope, remove the flap – cut this down to a rectangle about 1 ¾” x 5”.

3- Cut the folded edges from the Boho Blue part of the envelope opening it up so you have a front and back piece. From the front piece cut off a ½” strip and then trim to 5”.

4- Layer the Boho Blue strip to the back of the Pattern piece with about ¼” or less showing. Add this to the center of the embossed piece. Then add everything to the cardbase.

5- From the Flower Label – trim 15/16” from the bottom and 2-7/16” from the top. This will remove a small section (save for tomorrows card).

6- Layer the bottom piece slightly over the top piece, lining up the blue border to create a shorter label.

7- To hide the seam between the two pieces, tie a bow with 16” of white twine at the seam.

8- Add the “hello friend” label under the flowers with a Dimensionals Strip.

9- Stamp one Flower with Daffodil Delight ink and fussy cut out. Add below the greeting on the left with a dimensional.

All Done!

Global Stampin' Video Hop February 2023 - EMBOSSING FOLDERS - How To Emphasize The Design With Color

It is time for another tutorial for the Global Stampin’ Video Hop on YouTube. Each month on the fourth Friday Stampin’ Up Demonstrators from around the world come together and share their projects based on a monthly theme. February’s Theme is – Embossing Folders. I am so excited to see what everyone creates.

For my card today, I wanted to share with you one way you can add color to the texture created from Embossing Folders. There are many ways to add color, this is just one way. For this technique I used the Painted Posies 3DEmbossing Folder with Sponge Daubers to apply the ink which gives a soft look to the texture.

I hope you are inspired today with all the fun techniques you see while jumping from video to video and make something fun. We would love to see what you come up with you can tag me @creativechelsey in any social media post.

Make sure to check out what everyone makes for this monthly Video Hop. You can start with my video, I have linked it below. You can find the next video at the top of the video’s description on YouTube. Have fun!

Product List

Here are the dimensions and pieces you will need to create this set of cards:

Balmy Blue Cardbases – (2) 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”

Basic White Cardstock – 6” x 6” (will cut down to get two 3” x 5 ½”) & 3/8” strips for greeting

Flowers & More DSP – (4) ½” x 5 ½” strips

Vellum Cardstock – (2) 1 ½” Circle

Silver Thread – (2) 16”

1- Place the 6” x 6” Basic White Cardstock inside your embossing folder. I used the Painted Posies 3D Folder. Run it through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

2- Add ink to the tip of your Sponge Dauber and gently rub or tap the texture created by the embossing folder. I used Garden Green ink for the leaves and Gorgeous Grape & Rich Razzleberry for the flowers.

3- Cut the embossed paper in half to 3” x 5 ½”. You should have two pieces the extra same size.

4- If you want add a little color to the top & sides with a Blending Brush & Balmy Blue ink.

5- Add pattern paper to the left & right sides. I used a Balmy Blue stripe pattern from the Flowers & More DSP. Cut it into ½” x 5 ½” strips and adhere to the sides with about ¼” showing.

6- Add everything to the center of your cardbase.

7- Stamp your greeting on Basic White Cardstock in a coordinating color. I used greetings from the Best Family Ever Stamp Set on 3/8” strips with Gorgeous Grape Ink. Cut into smaller sections and adhere to the center of a 1 ½” Vellum Circle.

8- Add some adhesive to the bottom right area on the cardbase. Wrap 16” of silver thread back and forth to create a double faux bow.

9- Place dimensionals behind the greetings on the vellum circle and add over the center of the bow.

10- Add some embellishments. I used some Opal Rounds.

All Done!

How To Add Color With Embossing Folders -Stampin' Up! 2021 Artisan Design Team- Art In Bloom Bundle

Hello My Crafting Friends,

Today I am sharing my second Stampin’ Up 2021 Artisan Design Team showcase project for June 2021.

For this card I wanted to focus on using the Bloom Hybrid Embossing Folder and how you use it with the coordinating Bloom Dies. This embossing folder can both cut and emboss the flowers at the same time! I really wanted the flowers to be the star of the show for this handmade card; and so I added color to them with a fun technique. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and that it inspires you to create something beautiful today.

1- Begin by adding ink to the front inside (side with the Stampin’ Up Logo) of the Blooms Hybrid Embossing Folder. Start with Petal Pink Ink and a Sponge Dauber and add color to each of the flowers. Add Bumblebee Ink to the center of each flower. Then do the same with Pear Pizzazz and a different Sponge Dauber on three of the leaves.

2- Lightly spritz the 4 ½” x 6” Basic White Cardstock with water using a Stampin’ Spritzer. Then place the paper so the wet side will be touching the ink in the Embossing Powder. Place the coordinating die that cuts out the three flowers over the flowers on the front side of the folder. Then close the folder and run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

3- Fussy cut out the three leaves.

4- If you want more color to each piece add a light watercolor wash in matching ink to the die cut pieces. Let dry.

5- Clean the Embossing Folder with water. Then emboss the 4” x 5 ¼” Basic White Cardstock. Add this to the center of the Petal Pink cardstock. Place the Soft Succulent Shimmer Vellum to the left. The top edge touches the top of the Basic White piece and there is about 1/8” of White peeking on the left. Add adhesive in the center where the other elements will go.

6- Stamp the 2” x 5” Basic White piece with the Decorative Line Image in Bumblebee Ink. Creating two lines that go across the piece. Then die cut out with the Long Banner Die from the Blooms Dies. Place these two pieces horizontally in the center of the card.

7- Stamp the Small Flower Image in Petal Pink Ink on the Petal Pink piece. Then cut out the Ticket Die. Add this with dimensionals above the Bumblebee strips and to the left of the card.

8- Arrange the Embossed Flowers and Leaves around the Petal Pink Ticket & Bumblebee Strips. Adhere with dimensionals.

9- Stamp the greeting “Dear Friend” on the 3/8” strip in Memento Black Ink. Wrap 16” of Silver Trim into a spiral and adhere it to the back of the greeting. Add this to the card in the center of the Ticket with dimensionals.

10- Add some of the Diamond Shaped Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials to the card.

All Done!
