Today I am going to share with you how I used my Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads to watercolor the birds and background on these cards. These cards have a simple layout, delicate details, and soft colors that give them a winter feeling, perfect for this time of year.

Here are the dimensions and pieces you will need to create these projects:
Thick Very Vanilla Cardbases (2) 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”
Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper 3 ½” x 5” | 3” x 5” | scrap
for stamping
Vellum Layering Designs 1” x 5” | 1” x 3 ½”
Soft Sea Foam Cardstock scraps for die cuts
Very Vanilla Cardstock 4 ¼” x 5 ½”
Basic White Cardstock scraps for stamping
Card #1
1- Begin by creating a watercolor wash on 3 ½” x 5” Fluid
100 Paper for one of the cards. I used Mango Melody & Balmy Blue. You can
add the ink directly to the paper with a water painter or use a Window Sheet.
You can see the technique in the video below. Let dry.
2- Stamp the splatter image in Sahara Sand along the edges of the background.
3- Cut out the Aspen Tree Die from Very Vanilla Cardstock. Cut out the three left tree trunks and add to the left of the background.
4- Add the 1” x 3 ½” strip of Vellum Layering Designs – I
used the handwritten script about 1/3 from the bottom. Wrap 24” of Linen Thread
and tie a bow on the right side. Add everything to the center of the cardbase
with dimensionals.
5- Stamp the bird on some Fluid 100 in Stazon Ink. Watercolor with Soft Suede & Mango Melody ink. Let dry. Cut out with coordinating die and add to the center of the card with dimensionals.
6- Cut out three small leaves in Soft Sea Foam and add a little interest with a watercolor wash using Pear Pizzazz ink. Let dry and add two by the bird on the left and one by the bow on the right.
7
- Stamp your greeting in Stazon ink on Basic White Cardstock and fussy cut out. Add with dimensionals to the right of the bird near the bow.
8- Add three Brass Brushed Metallic Dots.
All Done!
Card #2
1- Stamp the bird & branch in the center of the 3” x
5” Fluid 100 Paper. Watercolor with Soft Suede, Mango Melody & Balmy Blue
ink. Let dry.
2- Stamp the splatter image in Sahara Sand along the edges of the background.
3- Adhere the 1” x 5” Vellum Layering Designs handwritten script to the left side with about ½” showing.
4- Wrap 30” of Linen Thread and tie a bow near the
branch.
5- Stamp your greeting in Stazon ink on Basic White Cardstock and fussy cut out. Add with dimensionals to the right side of the card under the branch.
6- Cut out three small leaves in Soft Sea Foam and add a
little interest with a watercolor wash using Pear Pizzazz ink. Let dry and add
two by the bow on the left and one by the greeting on the right.
7- Add three Brass Brushed Metallic Dots.
All Done!
