Paper Pumpkin Easel Card with a FLOATING Greeting! | June 2026 Alternative Card Idea #2

I'm back with another fun alternative project using the June 2026 Paper Pumpkin Bikes & Blooms Kit! For this card, I wanted to create another easel card, but with a completely different look from my first alternative.

This card has several fun techniques that really make it stand out. The bicycle is the star of the card, but I especially love the floating greeting and the layered grassy area created with blending, stamping, and torn paper.

The combination of the soft peach card base, green grass, and colorful bicycle makes this card feel like a beautiful spring or summer bike ride!

Card Assembly Instructions

1. Create the Easel Card Base

Start with the Petal Pink cardbase and score with the 11" edge at the top of your Paper Trimmer at 5-1/2" and 2-3/4". Fold along the score lines so the bottom portion of the card will remain flat, while the decorated front panel will fold backward and stand upright, this creates the easel mechanism.

Burnish the score line well with a Bone Folder so the card opens and stands easily.

2. Create the Grassy Background

This is one of my favorite parts of this card!

Blend Old Olive ink across the bottom of the Soft Sea Foam piece to get a darker color. You can add as much ink as you would like.

Stamp the 5 Flower Group image in Old Olive ink across the bottom, vary the direction of the stamp to get a random look.

Tear the top edge of the Soft Sea Foam piece to create an uneven, natural-looking edge. Then adhere it to the bottom half of the Petal Pink Cardbase Front.

3. Stamp Butterflies & Add Splatter

In Calypso Coral ink stamp both Butterfly images in the top half of the Petal Pink Cardbase.

Mix Calypso Coral ink with a little water on a clear block and Water Painter. Splatter across the top of the cardbase. If you get some on the Soft Sea Foam area that is okay.

4. Add the Bicycle

Now it's time for the star of the card! Adhere the bicycle die cut across the bottom section of the card with dimensionals. Make sure to only use the dimensionals behind the area of the bicycle that will be touching the bottom half of the card front. This will allow the card front to fold to create the easel look.

I love how the bicycle extends beyond the bottom panel when folded. It makes the bicycle feel like it's moving through the scene instead of simply sitting on top of the background.

5. Create the Floating Greeting

Now for one of the most fun details on this card—the floating greeting!

Place the Circle Label under the seat of the Bike and with the straight edge matching the straight edge of the cardbase.

Stamp the "Have a Lovely Day" sentiment in Black Ink in the center of the circle label.

To create the floating effect, attach the greeting to the back of the seat with strong adhesive. I used Liquid Glue. Make sure the adhesive doesn’t bleed to the back so the card can easily fold into the easel shape.

The result is a greeting that appears to be floating beside the bicycle!

6. Build the Flower Basket

Cut 54 Yellow Flower Groups from the Yellow Envelope Flap (we removed it from the envelope for Card #1) using the die from the Wonderful Scene Dies Set.

Adhere 3 with glue dots to the inside of the basket on the bicycle.

Cut 6 Leaves from Old Olive Cardstock using the die from the Detailed Flora Dies (this die cut two at a time!) You will want to cut off the top stem part so you only see the leaves. Tuck 4 Leaves around and in between the flowers adhering them with glue dots.

Tip: Attach the small die cuts to the Mini Glue Dots on the roll so you don’t lose them. Take them off the roll when you are ready to use them.

Tie a small bow with 8” of Linen Thread and attach with a glue dot to the left side of the basket for another bit of texture.

7. Create the Easel Stopper Inside

Adhere the 2-¾” x 4” Basic White piece to the center of the inside with dimensionals.This creates a small white writing panel for a handwritten message.

I also added the last yellow die-cut flower grouping and leaves to the corner for a coordinating finishing touch.

Repeating the flowers from the bicycle basket here helps bring the whole card together.

How the Easel Fold Works

When the card is closed, all of the layers fold flat so the card can be placed into an envelope.

To display the card, simply open it and fold the front panel backward along the score line.

The bicycle panel rests against the top of the white piece, creating the easel.

This is such a fun fold because the recipient gets a little surprise when they open the card!

Final Thoughts

I love how different this easel card looks from my first Bikes & Blooms alternative.

The bicycle overflowing with flowers, the soft grassy background, and especially that floating greeting give this card so much personality.

And the best part is that you don't need complicated techniques to create a card that looks special. A little blending, stamping, tearing, and layering can completely transform the pieces in your Paper Pumpkin Kit.
