Creative Chelsey: This Paper Weaving Card is so Easy | February 2026 Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Welcome back to Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey! Today I’m sharing my final alternative card idea using the February 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit called Celebrate Spring.

I had so much fun creating different cards with this kit, and this last design was a great way to finish the series. For this card, I created a woven paper background using strips from one of the kit pieces. This simple technique adds lots of texture and interest while still using the beautiful spring colors from the kit.

The soft mint woven pattern paired with the sweet eggs and leaves creates a cheerful card that still works perfectly for spring or Easter greetings.

Light Teal Cardbase – (10) 1/2" x 4-1/4”

Card Assembly Instructions

1. Splatter on the Cardbase
Splatter with White Craft Ink. I like to add a drop or two on a clear block and mix it with water with a paintbrush. Then splatter and let dry.

2. Create the Woven Background
Weave the 10 1/2" x 4-1/4" Light Teal strips together to create a basket-like background pattern.You can follow these directions if you wish.

Lay out 5 Light Teal strips horizontally. Number them from the top down 1-5.

Place the first Vertical strip in the center with Horizontal strips 1, 3 & 5 on top and 2 & 4 underneath.

Place the second and third strips to the left and right of the center strip with Horizontal strips 2 & 4 on top and 1, 3 & 5 underneath.

Place the fourth and fifth strips to the left and right with Horizontal strips 1, 3 & 5 on top and 2 &4 underneath.

3. Attach the Woven Layer
Attach to the center of the cardbase with dimensionals at an angle. Trim off any overhanging areas.

4. Create the Tag
Stamp the Hello Friend sentiment onto the label piece. With Melon Mambo ink.

Add the 1/2" Pretty In Pink strip to the bottom of the tag. Trim the sides to match the tag if needed.

Use the two strands of White Baker’s Twine (from yesterday’s alternative) and tie a bow through the tag.

Add to the center of the Basket Weave with dimensionals.

5. Stamp the Eggs

Flip the Egg Die Cuts to the white side and stamp with one of the decorative egg images in Pretty In Pink.

Then flip the stamp over and stamp OFF then ON with the solid side with Pretty In Pink. Make sure to stamp off on scrap paper first to get a lighter color.

Repeat with the second egg in Balmy Blue ink.

6. Layer the Leaves & Eggs
Cut out 2-3 Leaves from the Beautiful Bloom Dies in Shy Shamrock Cardstock. Add them with dimensionals around the tag.

Add the 2 Eggs with dimensionals under the tag.

Add the 3 Leaves from the kit with dimensionals around the tag and in between the other elements.

7. Finish the Card
Add 3-5 Sequins for sparkle.

Why I Love This Card

This card is a great example of how you can take the pieces from your Paper Pumpkin kit and turn them into something completely different. The woven technique creates so much texture, and it’s a fun way to stretch the materials from your kit.

It’s also a great reminder that a few simple techniques can completely change the look of your cards.
