Make Your Own Designer Series Paper with Stamps! from the July 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit

Welcome back to Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey! Today I’m sharing my seventh alternative card using the July 2026 Hooray for Birthdays Paper Pumpkin Kit.


This card is simple to create but has a fun visual impact thanks to the angled pieces across the center of the card. I used the pink grid-patterned card base pieces to create the angled layers and stamped my own floral pattern on Basic White cardstock using Melon Mambo, Darling Duckling, and Timid Tiger.

One of my favorite parts of this card is the simple masking technique I used with a Post-it Note to stamp individual leaves without their stems. A little Melon Mambo ink blended onto the pink pieces adds even more contrast and helps the stamped center really stand out.

Measurements

Thick Basic White Cardbase - 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored at 4-1/4"

Basic White - 4" x 4"

Pink with White Grid Cardbase* - 4” x 3-1/4"

Card Assembly Instructions

1. Cut the Pink Grid Cardbase

Take the Pink Cardbase with the White Grid pattern from the Paper Pumpkin kit.

Cut a piece measuring 4" x 3-1/4".

This piece will be cut diagonally to create the angled detail across the center of the card.

Place the piece into your paper trimmer with:

●     The top-left corner at 1/2"

●     The bottom-right corner at 1-1/2"

Cut diagonally from one measurement to the other.

You will now have one larger angled piece and one smaller angled piece.

2. Create your own Designer Series Paper Pattern

Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4" x 4".

Before creating the floral pattern, stamp the greeting so you can make sure you leave enough room for it. Take the larger pink grid piece and position it as a guide at the bottom of the Basic White cardstock.

Using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, stamp “Hugs & Wishes” above the angled edge.

This gives you a guide for where the greeting will sit once the card is assembled.

3. Stamp the Melon Mambo flowers

Using Melon Mambo Classic Stampin’ Ink, stamp the daisy-style flower randomly across the Basic White piece.

Keep the flowers spaced apart and vary their placement.

Remember to stamp some of the flowers near the edges so the pattern extends beyond the visible portion of the finished card.

4. Add the Darling Duckling flowers

Using Darling Duckling Classic Stampin’ Ink, stamp the smaller, rounded flower throughout the background.

Fill in some of the open spaces while leaving enough room for the leaves.

Don't worry about creating a perfectly even pattern—the random arrangement is part of the charm of this card.

5. Create a leaf mask

Take a Post-it Note or sticky note and stamp one stem & leaf image onto the sticky portion.

Using paper snips, carefully cut around the leaves leaving the stem. You can cut a large opening for the leaves, this will make it easier to stamp.

6. Stamp leaves without the stems

Place your leaf mask over the stamped background wherever you want to add leaves.

Line up the original leaf stamp over the mask and stamp using the Old Olive ink.

When you remove the mask, the leaves remain stamped but the stem area is not stamped.

Move the mask around the background and repeat as needed.

To create a single leaf, cover the other leaf opening on your mask with another piece of Post-it Note before stamping.

Continue adding leaves until the background has a nice balance of flowers and greenery.

7. Add Timid Tiger dots

Use the Timid Tiger Stampin’ Spot and the circle stamps to the inside of each flower.

For additional dots scattered around the background, use the stamp-off technique. Stamp once onto scrap paper and then stamp again onto the card.

This creates a softer version of the Timid Tiger color.

You can also use the larger circle stamp near some of the smaller circles to create little groupings throughout the pattern.

8. Blend the pink grid pieces

Before attaching the pink pieces, add a little more contrast to them.

Using a blending brush and Melon Mambo ink, lightly blend ink along the angled edge of each pink grid piece.

Build up the color until you have the amount of contrast you like.

You can keep the blending subtle or make it darker for a more dramatic look.

9. Attach the bottom angled piece

Apply liquid adhesive to the bottom angled pink piece.

Place it across the lower portion of the stamped Basic White panel at an angle.

Line up the angled edge so it creates the diagonal opening across the center of the card.

Make sure the “Hugs & Wishes” greeting remains visible.

10. Attach the top angled piece

Add liquid adhesive to the second pink grid piece.

Position it at the opposite angle along the top of the Basic White panel.

The two pink pieces should create the angled opening across the center, revealing the stamped floral pattern underneath.

Use your grid paper to help keep the finished panel approximately 5-1/4" tall.

Trim any excess from the edges so the layers are even.

12. Finish the layered card front

Once both pink pieces are attached, check all four edges and trim anything extending beyond.

Then add Stampin’ Dimensionals across the back.

Be sure to place enough Dimensionals around the edges and through the center to support the entire panel. Adhere to the center of the cardbase.

Leave an even white border around the card front.

You can also add embellishments, ribbon, or splatter if you'd like, but I love the clean look of this version.
