March 2023 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card Idea - Pop-Up Panel Variation - Stampin' Up!

Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here at Creative Chelsey. I love getting my Paper Pumpkin Kit every month and creating fun alternative projects using the supplies in the kit. Today I am sharing my second alternative idea using the March 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit called Ten Years Of Growth.

This beautiful kit creates 9 handmade cards. There are enough supplies to make three of each card. What I like to do is use the supplies in the kit along with some other products and create different or alternative projects. Today I am sharing with another variation to the original design for this card.  By separating the main bookshelf element with a dark border it gives my card a stepped up look. Also we will decorate the inside where the Shaded Spruce is covering the opening.

If this project inspires you to create something, I would love for you to tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey | #creativechelsey or email me at chelsey@creativechelsey.com.

It is Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey. This is the second alternative this week. If you would like to see all my alternatives check out the playlist here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL40dV1oxpkNmRa3CHQJOjEI3s_XvrzBRi

1- Remove the Bookshelf from the cardbase with your Paper Trimmer. Keeping the cardbase open and flat cut ½” from the right edge. Starting the cutting blade in the center of the cardbase and moving up to ½” and down to 5” do not cut all the way through the cardbase.

Rotate the cardbase to the left and cut ½” from the bottom edge. Cut from the center to ½” and down to 3 ¾”.

Rotate to cardbase again to the left and cut near the score line by lining the left side at 3 ¾”. Cut from the center to ½” and down to 5”

Rotate to the left one last time so the top is on the right side of the cutting blade at ½”. Double check that you are not cutting too close to the bookshelf image. I had to adjust mine down just a little. Cut from the center stopping at the other two cut lines.

For step-by-step instructions see video below.

2- Add the Shaded Spruce Cardstock over the opening on the cardbase. To make sure you get exact placement. Lay the Shaded Spruce Cardstock in the center of the cardbase. Use washi tape to create a hinge at the top.

Lift up the cardstock and add a small line of glue along the edge of the Shaded Spruce. Then close the cardstock over the opening. Press firmly and then remove the Washi Tape. Open the card to make sure the glue hasn’t seeped out.

3- On the Bookshelf piece, stamp in Shaded Spruce the branch image on the right of the open area. Then add this piece to the center of the Shaded Spruce piece with dimensionals.

4- Add the Fresh Freesia Planter & one of the larger Branches with Gold Embossing to the same area with dimensionals.

5- Stamp your greeting in Polished Pink on the Banner Label from the kit and add it to the right of the plant with dimensionals.

6- Add some Gold Sequins

7- For the inside of the card, remove the flap from the envelope and cut down to about 2” x 3 ¾”. Add this to the bottom of the opening.

8- Add a small plant. I used the small pot with the bushy plant on the left.

9- Stamp “happy” and “birthday” in Polished Pink on some scrap Basic White Cardstock and fussy cut out. Add this over the seam where the papers meet.

10- Add some Gold Sequins if you want.

All Done!

I have also created a video walking you through each step:
