Easy March 2026 Paper Pumpkin Hack! Change the Pattern Direction for a Whole New Look

Welcome back to Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey! Today I’m sharing my third alternative card idea using the March 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit, and this one is all about keeping things simple while making a big impact.

One of my favorite things about this card is how I used the envelope from the kit—but instead of using it as-is, I changed the direction of the pattern to create a completely new look for the card background.

It’s such an easy trick, but it really makes the design feel fresh and different!

For this design, I focused on:

Keeping the layout clean and simple

Using the envelope pattern in a new direction

     Adding texture with twine layers

Creating a soft, elegant card that’s quick to make

Sometimes the simplest cards are the most beautiful, and this one is a great reminder of that.

Measurements

Basic Beige Cardbase – 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” scored at 4-1/4”

Lost Lagoon Cardstock - 2-3/4" x 5-1/4"

Bubble Bath Cardstock - 5/8" x 3-1/4"

Basic White Cardstock - 1-1/4" x 2-1/2"

White & Gold Ribbon - 5"

Envelope* - (2) 2-1/2" x 2-1/2"

Card Assembly Instructions

1. Create the Cardbase

Stamp the Large Branch image in Basic Beige ink over the front of the cardbase.

2. Use the Envelope as Designer Paper

Take one of the envelopes from the kit and cut it apart. Trim the pattern into two 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" pieces.

Attach one piece to the top of the Lost Lagoon cardstock with even borders around the left, top & right edges.

Rotate the second piece upside down and attach it below the first, matching the borders.

šŸ‘‰ Tip: Rotate the envelope so the pattern runs in a different direction than intended. This simple change gives your card a whole new look!

Stamp in Lost Lagoon ink the Small Scattered Dots randomly on both pattern pieces.

Attach this layer to your card front with dimensionals & off center to the left just slightly.

3. Add Texture with Twine

Stamp the Large Scattered image in Bubble Bath ink on the Bubble Bath strip. Flag the ens and adhere to the center of the two pattern pieces (to hide the seam).

Unravel 5” of White & Gold Ribbon. Adhere about half of the straight strands over the Bubble Bath strip with Tear & Tape. Use about half of the gold thread and loop it over the straight threads - it will do what it wants šŸ˜†

This adds soft texture without overwhelming the design.

4. Add the Sentiment Banner

Cut out a Banner from the Stylish Shapes Dies in Basic White Cardstock.

Stamp “Hello” in Basic Gray ink in the center and adhere over the Bubble Bath strip with dimensionals.

Why I Love This Card

I love how this card shows that you don’t need a lot of layers or complicated techniques to create something beautiful.

Changing the direction of the envelope pattern is such a simple trick, but it makes the card feel completely different from the original kit designs.

It’s a great way to stretch your supplies and get even more value from your Paper Pumpkin kit.
