A Dash Of Holiday Magic SHAKER CARD - An October 2023 Alternative Card Idea - Stampin' Up!

The most magical time of the year is almost here, and there's no better way to celebrate it than with handmade cards. Be inspired by the October 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Home For The Holidays this season. These cards are more than just pieces of paper; they are a labor of love and creativity. The cards feature enchanting scenes of Christmas decorated homes and outdoor wonderlands, all brought to life with bold, festive colors. When you send one of these cards, you're not just sharing season's greetings; you're sending a piece of the holiday magic straight to your loved ones' hearts.

Today I am sharing with you a shaker card, using up the last pieces I have left over from one set of cards.

1- Make the shaker frame first-

Line up the cardstock at ¼” on the right side of the cut line on your paper trimmer. Start with the blade in the center of the cardstock and cut to ¼” at the top and 4 ¾” at the bottom. Lift up the blade and rotate the cardstock. Repeat on all four sides, changing the stopping points ¼” from the top and bottom edges. See video.

2- Add the Window Sheet to the back of the frame with strong adhesive.

3- Add Adhesive Strips to over the window sheet behind the frame.

4- Add your sequins to the center of the window sheet and then remove the paper backing from the adhesive foam strips.

5- Lay the Polka Dot Pattern Vellum over everything adhering it completely to the foam strips.

6- Add adhesive to the back of the shaker element behind the frame and place in the center of the cardbase.

7- Fussy cut out the scrap Trees from card #3. Add them behind the cut line on the right side of the Row of Houses (half) Die Cut to make full trees.

8- Add adhesive to the left side of the Houses, along the straight edge of the blue house, tuck under or place next to the frame near the bottom of the shaker element. The trees will go over the frame, you can add a dimensional if you want.

9- Tuck the Two Tree Die Cut behind the houses with a dimensional. You can also add a dimensional behind the blue house for more dimension.

10- Cut out the banner (Nested Essential Dies) that is about 1 ½” x 2 ½” from Balmy Blue cardstock. Add to the top right corner of the card.

11- Stamp your greeting twice on Early Espresso cardstock (center panel that was removed from the frame) in VersaMark. Make sure to use an Embossing Buddy before stamping. Cover with White Embossing Powder, remove excess, and heat until shinny with a Heat Tool. Fussy cut out each section.

12- Add the Glitter Strip (half from card #4) behind “wonder & joy” add this to the center of the banner at an angle. Place the other text around.

13- Add Glitter Glue to the windows in the houses.

All Done!

I have also created a video walking you through each step:
