Card-in-Card Fun Fold Alternative Handmade Card Idea using June 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Stampin Up

Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here at Creative Chelsey. For the next couple days, I will share a new alternative idea using the June 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Expressions In Color. The card I am sharing with you today is another fun fold handmade card idea. This one is called a Card in a Card. This fun fold card idea is a great idea on how to turn the smaller cardbase from the kit into a full size 4 ¼” x 5 ½” handmade card. Plus it gives you another “card front” to decorate.

I love creating alternative cards with Paper Pumpkin Kits so make sure to come back for more videos as I continue to create with this month’s kit. I would love to see your finished creations that are inspired by this tutorial! Here are the dimensions and pieces you will need to create these cards:

From the Kit:

Hexagon Label

Large Rectangle Label

Scrap Piece from the Corner of the Leaf Die Cuts

10” of Evening Evergreen Twine

Extra Cardstock:

Pale Papaya Cardstock – Cardbase 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”

Basic White Cardstock – 4” x 5 ¼”

Here is a list of the supplies I used to make the cards:

Pale Papaya Cardstock 155668 $8.75

Basic White Cardstock 159276 $9.75

Paper Trimmer 152392 $25.00

Simply Shammy 147042 $8.00

Stampin’ Seal Adhesive 152813 $8.00

Multipurpose Liquid Glue 110755 $4.00

Tear & Tape Adhesive 138995 $7.00

Dimensionals 104430 $4.00

Clear Block D 118485 $8.50

Paper Snips 103579 $10.00

Bone Folder 102300 $7.00

Take Your Pick Tool 144107 $10.00

1- On the front of the Pale Papaya Cardbase randomly stamp the “ink spot/wash” in Bumblebee ink. Use the stamp off – stamp on technique to get a lighter color. Then stamp the small flower and leaf image in Bumblebee ink in each “ink spot/wash”. I grouped them into groups of 3 flowers & 2 leaves.

2- Remove ½” from the right edge of the cardbase. Adhere this strip to the inside back piece of the cardbase so it lines up with the front when closed.

3- Fold the Evening Evergreen Cardbase from the kit inside out so the white is now on the outside and the green is on the inside. Slide it over the front of the Pale Papaya cardbase and center. Then open the Pale Papaya cardbase and add adhesive to the back of the smaller cardbase. Then close the back side of the Pale Papaya cardbase over the adhesive to adhere the smaller cardbase to the larger.

4- On the front of the cardbase add the Evening Evergreen Pattern Piece to the center of the white smaller cardbase. Cut the Flower Vellum piece in half and add to the right edge over the pattern. Remove one section from the Purple Leaf and add the now two section Purple Leaf to the center. Remove the single Pink Leaf section from the whole and add it near the bottom of the Purple Leaves (watch the video below if this is confusing).

5- Stamp the greeting “You Are Amazing” in Bumblebee ink on the Hexagon Label. Add to the center of the leaves with dimensionals. Tie a bow with 10” of twine and add under the greeting with a glue dot. Add three sequins.

6- On the back – now Evening Evergreen side add the other half of the Vellum Flower to the left side. Add the single purple leaf, then cut the smallest branch from the other Pink Leaf and add it as well.

7- Stamp “Thanks” in Bumblebee Ink on the Large Rectangle add it below the leaves. Stamp “For Everything” on some scrap paper and cut out each word. Then add below “thanks”.

8- Stamp the “ink spot/wash” with Stamp off – stamp on technique on the scrap piece of paper. Then stamp three small flowers inside and fussy cut out. Add these around the greeting. Add a sequin inside each flower.

9- Add the 4” x 5 ¼” Basic White Cardstock to the inside of the card for your message.

All Done!
