New Handmade Card Making Technique - Pigment Sprinkles and Silhouette Scenes Stamp Set | Stampin Up

Today I want to share with you a fun new technique using pigment sprinkles to create beautiful watercolor backgrounds. I am also using a lot of heat embossing in Black, White, and Clear to really enhance the elements for this card. I use the Silhouette Scenes Stamp Set from Stampin Up for the images. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and try making this card.

When using Pigment Sprinkles, you will need a tray or cookie sheet of some sort to contain the pigment sprinkles to a small area. They can make a big mess quickly. Also keep the container closed and only open the flap covering the holes.

1- On the pieces of watercolor paper shake out some pigment of 3 colors of your choosing. I used a red, yellow, and blue. Use the aqua painter and add water to the pigment sprinkles by painting over the colors. Start with the lighter color first and then blend colors together to create beautiful designs. You can add more pigment if you want a darker color. Clean the aqua painter between each watercolor paper. Air dry or use a heat tool.
2- Stamp images – First rub Embossing buddy over the water color paper. Use VersaMark ink and stamp the image of the girl pointing to the sky in the center of the paper. Add Black embossing powder and tap off the excess. Heat with a Heat tool.
Repeat with the other images: Boy with airplane and Boy with telescope.
3- Cut out each image with the 1 ½” x 3” Stitched Rectangle Die with a Die Cutting Machine. You can use a small piece of tape to hold it in place.
4- To give each piece a shinny look, begin by placing the watercolor paper on a scrap piece of paper to create a handle. Press the VersaMark ink pad over the entire image/watercolor paper. Add clear embossing powder all over and tap off any excess. Then heat with a heat tool. Repeat for the other 2 images.
5- On Basic Black Cardstock rub a dryer sheet over the paper, stamp your greeting with VersaMark ink, add white embossing powder and heat. Use the 1” x 2 ½” Stitched Rectangle Die to cut out the greeting.
6- Use the Coastal Weave Embossing Folder and emboss the Smoky Slate Cardstock. Turn the paper to the back side (looks more with tire tracks) and adhere to the Basic Black card front.
7- Add the 3 watercolor paper pieces to the top of the horizontal card front place them so the top, left, and right sides have a similar size border.
8- Wrap 30” of White Bakers Twine around the card front under the images. Tie a bow on the left side.
9- Add the greeting with dimensionals to the center of the card below the images. If needed move the bow to the left side of the greeting.
10- Add the card front to the Whisper White cardbase. Then add either rhinestones or silver sequins around the greeting.

All Done!

1- Cut the Whisper White cardstock with the largest Stitched Nested Label die. Then stamp the cloud image (PP) in Balmy Blue 3X. You can use the stamp off, stamp on technique to get different shades. Then stamp the puddle image (PP-small lines together) in Balmy Blue near the bottom of the label. Then stamp the rain drops (UMU) in Gray Granite randomly in the sky.
2- Stamp with the Memento Black Ink the rain boots (PP), the umbrella and handle (UMU), 2 groups of flowers (UMU) on the 2” x 2 ½” whisper white cardstock pieces. Then stamp the greeting “Rain or Shine you’re Always on my Mind” (UMU) on the Petal Pink cardstock.
3- Stamp the rain boot floral insert (PP) in Calypso Coral inside the lined stamped rain boots.
4- Use the Stampin Blends Markers to color in the following images:
Umbrella- Dark Petal Pink along the outlines and near the top. Light Petal Pink inside
Boots- color in all the white space with the Dark Petal Pink
Flowers- Use Dark Calypso Coral, Dark Daffodil Delight, Light Daffodil Delight, and Dark Petal Pink for the flowers. Light Old Olive for the leaves.
Shadow on the Label- Light Smoky Slate add shadow where the boots and umbrella will be.
5- Punch out the umbrella and fussy cut the boots and flowers. I had to re-stamp the handle after punching out the umbrella. Oops.
6- Break down the fibers of the ½” strip of Balmy Blue cardstock with a bone folder. Cut the strip in half and adhere it to the back of the large label to look like a ribbon has been wrapped back and forth. Trim the ends to an angle.
7- Add the Soft Sea Foam textured vellum to the front of the Soft Sea Foam cardbase (add the adhesive under the area where the label will be). Add the label with dimensionals to the left side of the card. Make sure the faux ribbon doesn’t go beyond the edge of the card.
8- Adhere the boots to the label on the left side, have the right boot lean a little on the left boot. Adhere the groups of flowers so they look like they are coming out of the boots.
9- Add the umbrella upside down with a dimensional to the right of the boots. Add the handle with glue dots tuck it under the flowers.
10- Trim the sides of the greeting if you want and adhere it above the umbrella. Add some sequins around the card, tie a bow with the 8” of white bakers twine and add it under the greeting.

All Done!

Stampin Up March 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Create More Handmade Cards using just the Stamp Set

What do you do with the back of the cardbase after we remove it from the card front? STAMP ON IT of course. These cards do exactly that. I have used all the cardbase fronts from the March 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit and now have a bunch of backs needing to be used. I have come up with this card as a way to do just that. If you don’t have any cardbase backs then you can also use whisper white cardstock instead. I love creating alternative cards with Paper Pumpkin Kits so make sure to come back for more tutorials as I continue to create with this month’s kit.

I also send a free exclusive card kit designed by me to all my Paper Pumpkin customers who received the March 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit. The card with the Rain Boots is the card they will be making with their kit. I include all cardstock and accessories needed to make two of this card (adhesive and ink are not included). It is Paper Pumpkin Week here on CreativeChelsey. This is my fourth tutorial this week. Make sure to look at my previous videos for more inspiration.
