Two Ways To Add Distressed Details To Your Cards - A September 2024 Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Hi Everyone and welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey. Over the next couple days I am going to share with you a ton of great card ideas you can make with one set of supplies from the September 2024 Paper Pumpkin Kit called Autumn Abundance.

The projects from this kit are beautiful with colorful leaf designs perfect for this time of year. The kit creates a total of 9 greeting cards 3 in three different designs. The kit creates a total of 9 greeting cards 3 in three different designs. If you would like to watch me unbox the kit and create these cards click on the playlist below.

Each month I take the contents from the paper pumpkin kits and make alternative projects. My cards are easy to follow and can be made by both experienced or new paper crafter. You may need just a couple other products to complete them. You can follow along with me using supplies you already have or purchase any products you see me use from my online store. A full supply list is below.

This is the second set of alternative cards I will be sharing with you this week. These two cards celebrate fall with bold colors and woodsy images.

Card #1 – Thinking of You

Cajun Craze Cardbase – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”

Coordinating Cardstock (Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Wild Wheat) – Scraps

Every Celebration Dies

Square Cardbase – 4” x 4”

Wood Cardbase – 4” x 1 ¾”

Circle Label – Kit

Linen Thread – 20”

1- Separate the Back of the Square Cardbase from the front at 4” along the score line. Then tear about ½” from one side to create an uneven distressed edge. Adhere the opposite or straight side, to the top of the cardbase with adhesive. Make sure it is in the center.

2- Cut the large circle side from the Wood Cardbase at 4” (you will include the score line). Cut 1 ¾” from the bottom (I chose the side with the two Vanilla corners). Tear off about ½” from the side with the two vanilla corners. Adhere this to the bottom with adhesive along the opposite or straight side, just like the top piece.

3- Take a couple dimensionals and add them under both torn sides to give depth between the pattern papers and the cardbase.

4- Stamp your greeting on the Circle Label in Cajun Craze. If you want to keep your card simple you can add the greeting with dimensionals anywhere in the open area created by the torn edges.

Option 1: Cut a small hole along the folded edge between the two torn edges. String 20” of Linen Thread through the hole and tie a bow on the right side. Make sure it is under the greeting & slide the bow near the greeting.

Option 2: Die Cut three leaves in coordinating colors, I used Cajun Craze, Wild Wheat & Crumb Cake. Add them around the greeting.

Card #2 – Sending Wishes

Cajun Craze Cardbase – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”

Basic White Cardstock - Scrap

Wood Cardbase – 3 ¾” x 4”

Brown Envelope Flap Scrap – 1” x 3 ¾”

Mushroom Die Cut – Kit

Small Decorative Rectangle Label – Kit

Half Circle Leaf Die Cut – Kit

Linen Thread – 10”

Wild Wheat Ink Pad

1- Trim off the 1” rectangle piece from the bottom of the Brown Envelope Flap. Trim it to 3 ¾”.

2- Add the Envelope piece with the Brown side up to the 3 ¾” x 4” Wood piece. I added it to the small area by the score line. Distress the outside edges. Adhere it to the center of the cardbase.

3- Add the Half Circle Leaf Die to the left side between the two pieces. The shape should flow with the circles made by the wood pattern.

4- Add the Mushroom with dimensionals on the right side of the half circle.

5- Stamp your creating on the Small Decorative Label in Cajun Craze. Add to the center of the Mushroom with dimensionals.

6- Stamp one of the leaves in Wild Wheat ink on Basic White Cardstock and fussy cut out. Tuck it between the greeting and the Mushroom.

7- Tie a bow with 10” of Linen Thread and tuck it under the greeting on the right side.

I have also created a video walking you through each step.
