For today’s
alternative I created a hidden slider card with the Snail Die Cut and the Front
of the Square Cardbase. I am so excited to walk you through each step of this
fun card.
The projects from this kit are beautiful with colorful leaf designs perfect for this time of year. The kit creates a total of 9 greeting cards 3 in three different designs. Each month I take the contents from the
paper pumpkin kits and make alternative projects. My cards are easy to follow
and can be made by both experienced or new paper crafter. You may need just a
couple other products to complete them. You can follow along with me using
supplies you already have or purchase any products you see me use from my
online store. A full supply list is below or on my blog – www.creativechelsey.com

Crumb Cake Cardbase – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”
Gold Foil – Scrap
Cajun Craze Cardstock – 1” x 5” strip
Square Cardbase with Hole – Kit
Cajun Craze Square – Kit
Snail Die Cut – Kit
Long Label – Kit
Linen Thread – 10”
Crumb Cake Ink Pad
Early Espresso Ink Pad
White Gel Pen (this is my favorite from amazon)—— https://amzn.to/3Rp9LrZ (As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases) Foam Adhesive Strips
1- On the Crumb Cake Cardbase, stamp in Crumb Cake ink with the Branch &/or Leaves random design on the right and left sides of the Horizontal Cardbase.
2- Cut the Cajun Craze Square Piece from the kit in half at about 2”. If you want a design in the back of the circle, stamp some leaves or branches on both pieces in Cajun Craze.
3- Connect the two pieces back together with dimensionals
only on the left and right sides. The top piece will be the back and the bottom
piece should be in front. The middle should be open so the Snail can move back
and forth. The two pieces should over lap about ½” or less.
4- Cut a ½” strip from a scrap piece of cardstock or the back of an envelope. Attach the Snail Die Cut with one dimensional to the top of the Strip. You should not see the strip behind the snail.
Slide the Strip between the two pieces of Cajun Craze. The Snail will sit on top of the bottom piece and move back and forth freely with the Strip on the back.
5- Add the Front of the Square Cardbase over the Cajun Craze pieces so the Snail sits in the center. Attach it with dimensionals in the top two corners and glue dots on the bottom two corners.
6- On the back, fold the Strip that is attached to the snail over the cut line in the middle. Make sure the snail is sitting straight on the bottom edge before folding. This will create a “U” shape which will lock the snail into the hidden slide. If you want you can fold and adhere the strip over itself again to make a thicker/stronger piece. Cut it down to about 1”.
7- To create the Pull Handle, Take the 1” x 5” Cajun Craze Strip and Flag the right side. Write near the flagged end with White Gel Pen “PULL”.
8- Attach the Pull Handle to the Snail Strip so when the Handle is moved the Snail moves back and forth. Make sure the Snail is all the way to the left when you attach the Handle. The word “PULL” should show on the right side. Cut off any extra on the left side.
9- Add Foam Adhesive Strips to the back along the sides of the Pull Handle to create a “track” for the Handle to move smoothly within. Also add some of the Foam Strips to the top and bottom to give support to the rest of the piece.
10- Add everything to the center of the Cardbase. Make sure to hold the Pull Handle in place so it doesn’t come out of the track as you adhere it.
11- Cut out a Leaf from Gold Foil and attach in the bottom right area of the circle. Make sure it doesn’t keep the Snail from moving back and forth. Stamp your greeting on a the Long Label from the Kit in Early Espresso and add it over the leaf with dimensionals under the Snail.
12- Tie a bow with 10” of Linen Thread and add it under the
right side of the greeting.
Optional: Die the Linen Thread with Cajun Craze Ink by taking a clear block and smooshing the Thread between the clear block and ink pad and pulling the thread through. Rotate the Thread to color the other side. Use a Paper Towel and hold the other end and repeat to color the full thread.
Use the Paper Towel to remove excess ink from the thread and
let dry.
See the Video Below for Visual Directions.
I have also created a video walking you through each step.
