Each month I take the contents from the paper pumpkin kits and make alternative projects. My cards are easy to follow and can be made by both experienced or new paper crafter. You may need just a couple other products to complete them. You can follow along with me using supplies you already have or purchase any products you see me use from my online store. A full supply list is below.
Today I am sharing with you my first set of alternative cards. I have made all three cards from one cardbase. I love the layouts on these cards, they are easy to replicate with any products. I also love that the only extra products you need to make them are a couple Cardbases.

Card #1
Basic Beige Cardbase – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”
Color Leaf Cardbase – 4” x 5 ¼”
Long Label – Kit
Yellow Die Cut Leaf – Kit
Linen Thread – 20”
1- Remove the back of the Color Leaf Cardbase at 4”, then rotate and cut off the top at ¼” making the finished size 4” x 5 ¼”. Add this with adhesive along the top and right edges and one dimensional in the bottom left corner. Place in the top right corner of the Basic Beige Cardbase.
2- Stamp your greeting in Cajun Craze on the right side of the Long Label from the kit.
3- Adhere about 20” of Linen Thread wrapped around your hand
three times to the back of the greeting. Place the greeting in the bottom left
area of the card with dimensionals.
4- Add the Yellow Die Cut Leaf from the kit on the left side
of the greeting with glue dots.
Card #2
Thick Basic White Cardbase – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”
Color Leaf Cardbase – 2” x 5 ½”
Blue Envelope – 2 ½” x 5 ½” Front – 1” x 2 ½”
Small Yellow Leaves Die Cut – Kit
Linen Thread – 15”
1- Separate the front from the back of Blue Envelope by removing 1/16 from all folded sides, so you can use the full Blue inside color. Cut a Blue piece that is 2 ½” x 5 ½”. Add this to the left side of the cardbase.
2- From the right side of the Color Leaf Cardbase cut 2”
(this should not have the score line). Add this to the right side of the cardbase
with dimensionals.
3- From the Back of the Envelope (vanilla side) cut a 1” strip from the bottom edge. Trim down to 2 ½”. Stamp your greeting “Sending Autumn Wishes…” in Cajun Craze in the bottom left corner on the vanilla side.
4- Wrap 15” of Linen Thread above the greeting and tie a bow
on the right side. Slide underneath the Color Leaf Panel on the card to make
sure the bow is showing and not under the panel. Move the bow if needed.
5- Add dimensionals to the back of the greeting, make sure to add some over the Linen Thread. Slide under the Color Leaf Panel about 1 ½” from the bottom and touching the left edge of the cardbase.
6- Add the Small Yellow Leaves Die Cut along the left edge
of the Color Leaf Panel so it looks like it is escaping the rectangle or
design. Add dimensionals or glue dots to support each delicate leaf. It may go
into the greeting label, but should not cover the words of the greeting.
Card #3
Thick Basic White Cardbase – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”
Color Leaf Cardbase – 2 ½” x 5 ½” (cut at 3 ¼”)
Wood Cardbase – ½” x 5 ½”
Brown Envelope – 3 ¼” x 4 1/8”
Linen Thread – 15”
1- Separate the front from the back of Brown Envelope by removing 1/16 from all folded sides, so you can use the full Blue inside color. Cut the Brown piece with the bottom straight edge at 3 ¼”, leaving the height whatever size it is (about 4”). Add this to the center of the cardbase with dimensionals.
2- Cut the Color Leaf Cardbase (with score line) just above the Leaves at 3 ¼”, separating the leaves from the open vanilla area.
3- Stamp your choice of greeting at the bottom of the open
vanilla area we just removed from the top of the color leaf piece in Cajun
Craze. I used the With Thanks Stamp. To make it fit, first only ink up THANKS
and stamp it in the center about ¼” from the bottom edge (score line should be
on the left side). Then clean your stamp, ink only WITH and stamp it just above
THANKS.
Optional- If you want to emboss these pieces to hide the score line you can do that now. In the video I show you how both look so you can decide which one you like best. I used the Painted Texture Embossing Folder, but you can use whatever you have.
4- Adhere the Greeting piece under the Color Leaf Piece so the height of the piece is about 4 ¾”.
5- Cut ½” Strip from the Wood Cardbase (the side with the largest wood circle – the wood should almost fill the whole strip). Remove the Vanilla corners and cut two pieces one being about 3” and the other about 1 ½”. Add both pieces at different angles where the seam from the greeting & color leaf meet. Use dimensionals to give depth.
6- Wrap 15” of Linen Thread just above the Wood Strips and tie a bow on the right side. Add this to the center of the cardbase, on top of the brown piece, with dimensionals.
I have also created a video walking you through each step for all the cards!
