Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here at Creative Chelsey. I love getting my Paper Pumpkin Kit every month and creating fun alternative projects using the supplies in the kit. Today I am sharing my first alternative idea using the May 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit called Exploring In Color.
This fun outdoor themed kit creates 9 handmade cards. There are enough supplies to make three of each card. What I like to do is use the supplies in the kit along with some other products and create different or alternative projects. Today I am sharing with you two cards. The first we will create together has a simple layout and uses only an extra cardbase, while the second card is a stepped up version with more layers, distressing technique, splattering and clear embossing to give the stamped elements a shine.
If this project inspires you to create something, I would love for you to tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey | #creativechelsey or email me at chelsey@creativechelsey.com.

Card Prepping
1- Cut the Bison Cardbase in half at 4 ¼”. With the back
piece, cut 1” from the top. Cut this into two ½” x 4 ¼” strips.
2- Cut the leftover 4 ¼” x 4 ½” piece in two 2 1/8” x 4 ½”
pieces.
3- Cut the Moody Mauve strip in half the long way.
Simple Card
1- Stamp your images in three coordinating colors, I used
Moody Mauve – mug, Boho Blue – compass, & Pebbled Path – boot. Fussy cut
out.
2- Stamp your greeting in Copper Clay and trim down.
3- Layer the ½” sky strip on the left side of the scenery piece. The total width of the two pieces will be around 2 ½”. Add to the left side of the cardbase with about ½” border with dimensionals.
4- Adhere one Moody Mauve strip with the angled edge on the right side. Add the greeting with dimensionals over the strip.
5- Add the three stamped images above the greeting with dimensionals. You can cover the Bison if you want.
6- Tie a bow with 10” of Linen Thread add under the right
bottom corner of the greeting with a glue dot.
Wow Card
1- Distress the Copper Clay piece with a bone folder.
Watch video below. Add to the left side of cardbase at a slight angle.
2- Layer the ½” sky strip on the left side of the scenery
piece. The total width of the two pieces will be around 2 ½”. Add to the center
of the Copper Clay piece at an angle with dimensionals.
3- With a Stampin’ Write Marker add splatters in the top left and bottom right corners. See video.
4- Stamp your images in three coordinating colors, I used Moody Mauve – mug, Boho Blue – compass, & Pebbled Path – boot. To give them a shiny look, add VersaMark ink over the entire image. Sprinkle on Clear Embossing Powder, remove excess, and heat until melted and shiny. Fussy Cut out.
5- Stamp your greeting in Copper Clay ink. To give it an embossed look, immediately add Clear Embossing Powder, remove excess, and heat set. Trim down.
6- Adhere one Moody Mauve strip with the angled edge on the right side. Add the greeting with dimensionals over the strip.
7- Add the three stamped images above the greeting. You
can cover the Bison if you want.
8- Tie a bow with 10” of Linen Thread add under the right bottom corner of the greeting with a glue dot.
All Done!
