How I Take A Card From Simple to WOW! With The Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper From Stampin Up

Today I wanted to share with you two types of handmade cards. One uses simple stamping with only ink and paper and the other card is a WOW card with more supplies needed. Both are great cards and easy to make. I also share the masking technique and give another use for the fine tip glue pen.

I hope you enjoy this handmade card tutorial and come back for more. I would love to see your finished creations that are inspired by this tutorial! You can tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey | #creativechelsey or email me at chelsey@creativechelsey.com

Melon Mambo Cardstock 115320 $8.75 | Ink 147051 $7.50

Simple Card Instructions:

1- Choose 3 coordinating colors that match your Designer Series Paper. Cut out coordinating cardstock (choose a lighter color for the greeting strip) and gather your ink colors.

2- Stamp your images in the bottom left corner of the Whisper White cardstock. Stamp them so some will be above and some below the greeting. Don’t worry about overlapping colors.

3- Stamp your greeting in a dark ink color on your greeting strip.

4- Adhere the Designer Series Paper to the front of your card. I like to use liquid glue so I can move it around and place it correctly on the front of the cardbase. Use a bone folder to smooth out the glue so you don’t get any bumps.

5- Add the larger coordinating cardstock to the center at an angle. Adhere the stamped Whisper White cardstock over this at an opposing angle.

6- Add the greeting in the center of the stamped images.

All Done!

WOW Card 1:

Crushed Curry Cardstock 131199 $8.75 | Ink 147087 $7.50

Pretty Peacock Cardstock 150880 $8.75 | Ink 150083 $7.50

Cajun Craze Cardstock 119684 $8.75 | Ink 147085 $7.50

WOW Card 2:

Rich Razzleberry Cardstock 115316 $8.75 | Ink 147091 $7.50

Mango Melody Cardstock 146989 $8.75 | Ink 147093 $7.50

Rococo Rose Cardstock 150882 $8.75 | Ink 150080 $7.50

WOW Card Instructions:

1- Choose 3 coordinating colors that match your Designer Series Paper. Cut out coordinating cardstock (choose a darker color for the greeting strip) and gather your ink colors.

2- Use the Stitched Rectangle Die that is just slightly smaller than the Whisper White & Coordinating Cardstock pieces 2 ¾” x 4 ¼” and cut out a rectangle from each piece.

3- Stamp the large flower on a Post It Note. Make sure to stamp it so there is sticky stuff on the back of the stamped image. Fussy cut out right along the edge of the stamped image.

4- Stamp the same flower you cut from the Post It Note on to the Whisper White Cardstock. Stamp one above the greeting and one below. After stamping place the Post It Note over the stamped image to mask it. Stamp the fern image in a different color. Remove the mask and repeat for the other side.

5- Stamp the small flower three times in your last coordinating ink color on to some Whisper White scrap paper.  Then fussy cut them out.

6- Stamp your greeting in VersaMark onto the Greeting Strip. Add White Emboss Powder and heat until shiny. Punch each end of the strip with the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch.

7- Adhere the Designer Series Paper to the front of your card. I like to use liquid glue so I can move it around and place it correctly on the front of the cardbase. Use a bone folder to smooth out the glue so you don’t get any bumps.

8- Add the larger coordinating cardstock to the center at an angle. Adhere the stamped Whisper White cardstock over this at an opposing angle with dimensionals.

9- Tie a bow with the 10” of Twine and adhere it to the back of the greeting on the right side. Add the greeting in the center of the stamped images with dimensionals.

10- Add the small flowers around the greeting with mini dimensionals. Then use the Fine-Tip Glue Pen and add a thin layer of glue to the petals. When this dries it will give each flower a shiny look.

All Done!
