Who Says Flowers Have to be Pink? A Fresh Green & Yellow July 2026 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card Idea

Welcome back to Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey! Today I’m sharing my ninth alternative card using the July 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit, Hooray for Birthdays. After creating several cards using lots of pink, I decided it was time for a completely different color combination! I moved to the opposite side of the color wheel and used green with a touch of yellow, and I love how fresh and different this card feels.

I also found a fun way to use the half-circle envelope from the kit, along with leftover die-cut pieces to create a leafy background. Add in some custom stamping, distressed edges, flowers, and a little sparkle from the Sunset Sequins, and you have a beautiful card that uses up some of those leftover kit pieces!

Card Assembly Instructions

1. Blend the leafy background

Separate the front of the half-circle envelope from the back. We will be using the front portion as the main patterned layer for the card.

Use a leftover piece of the die-cut sheet as a leaf stencil. Cover any openings around the leaf shapes so that you only blend ink where you want the leaves to appear.

Using Old Olive Ink and a Blending Brush, add ink to the base of each leaf and blend through the leaf openings.

Create two main leaves, one extending toward the upper left and one toward the upper right, forming a slight V shape. Allow the leaves to extend beyond the half-circle design on the envelope.

2. Add Soft Sea Foam blending

Next, use Soft Sea Foam Ink around the outside of the half-circle shape. Keep the color very light and concentrate the ink around the outside edge rather than the center.

Allow just a little of the Soft Sea Foam to extend over the white edge of the half-circle. This helps the White Embossed Shape pop.

Use a paper towel or tissue to gently wipe the ink from the white embossed edge of the half-circle.

3. Trim the envelope piece, distress the edge & add splatters

Add splatters using Granny Apple Green Ink.

The yellow-green color adds another shade of green to the background and coordinates beautifully with the Old Olive leaves and Soft Sea Foam blending.

Trim the envelope piece to approximately 4¼" wide × 3½" tall.

Center the half-circle design so that you have about ½" of space on each side.

Use a Bone Folder to distress the edges of the envelope piece. Gently run the bone folder along the edges to give the layer a softer, slightly worn appearance.

4. Create the Darling Duckling patterned strip

Take the Darling Duckling cardstock strip measuring ¾" × 4¼".

Using Darling Duckling Ink and the grid stamp from the Paper Pumpkin kit, stamp the grid pattern across the entire strip.

Start at one end and stamp vertically, then move across the strip, connecting the edges of the stamped images.

Don't worry if the pattern isn't perfectly aligned. Any small imperfections can easily be hidden with the flowers or other embellishments.

5. Add the layers to the card base

Attach the blended envelope piece to the card front, leaving approximately ½" of space at the top. You can simply eyeball the placement since the slightly uneven arrangement adds to the handmade look.

Tuck the stamped Darling Duckling ¾" × 4¼" strip underneath the envelope layer.

6. Stamp the greeting & bow

Take one of the kit labels and stamp “Hugs & Wishes” in Old Olive Ink.

Cut approximately 10" of Linen Thread and tie a small bow.

Place a Glue Dot in the center of the bow and adhere it underneath the greeting label.

Place Dimensionals on the back of the greeting label. Attach it below the half-circle on the left side.

7. Add the die cut flowers

Use Dimensionals to attach the large die-cut flowers.

Create an arrangement with five large flowers total:

●      Three flowers on the left leaf

●      Two flowers on the right leaf

Use the smaller die-cut flower pieces as little scattered flowers around the card.

Start with five small flowers, placing them around the larger floral arrangement. Use your Take Your Pick Tool to easily pick up and position the tiny pieces.

8. Add the Sunset Sequins

Finish the flowers with Sunset Sequins.

Add sequins to the centers of the larger flowers to give the card a little extra shine and sparkle.
