A Clever Way to use your Die-Cut Leftover Sheet! A July 2026 Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Welcome back to Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey! Today I’m sharing my eighth alternative card using the July 2026 Hooray for Birthdays Paper Pumpkin Kit. This card is a fun way to use up some of the leftover pieces from the kit.

I created my own leaf layer by blending Old Olive ink through a die-cut scrap as a mask, then fussy cutting the leaves. The layered flowers, scattered mini flowers, Sunset Sequins, and a little Linen Thread bow add lots of pretty details while keeping the card fairly simple to assemble.

Card Assembly Instructions

1. Add the Paper Pumpkin pieces

Take last piece from the pink grid-patterned Paper Pumpkin cardbase and cut it into two pieces that are 1-1/8" x 4"

Add them to the left and right sides of the cardbase.

2. Blend the envelope background

Separate the front portion of the hexagon envelope from the back.

Using a blending brush and Melon Mambo Classic Stampin’ Ink, lightly blend ink over the surface.

As you blend, the white embossed detail on the envelope will begin to stand out.

Continue adding ink until you have the amount of contrast you like.

Then use a paper towel to gently wipe the excess ink from the raised embossed detail. This helps the white pattern pop against the blended background.

Then cut it to 3-1/4" x 4-3/8". Try to keep the Hexagon in the center.

3. Stamp the grid pattern

Using Melon Mambo ink and the grid stamp from the kit, stamp the grid image randomly over the blended envelope piece.

Rotate the stamp and vary the placement so the pattern looks casual and scattered.

You don't need to completely cover the piece.

4. Add splatter

Use a Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blend Marker to add a little splatter over the envelope piece.

This adds another layer of texture and helps the background feel more distressed and handmade.

5. Layer

Distress the Melon Mambo cardstock piece along the edges and add to the center of the cardbase at an angle with dimensionals.

Adhere the Hexagon Envelope piece on top at an opposing angle.

6. Create a leaf mask & Blend

Take the leftover die-cut paper that has the leaf shapes cut out.

Use sticky notes around the edges where you may accidentally blend color. You are essentially creating a stencil/mask that will allow you to blend ink through the leaf openings.

Place the mask over the back portion of the hexagon envelope.

Using a blending brush and Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Ink, blend ink through the leaf openings.

Build up the color to create darker and lighter areas within the leaves.

9. Fussy cut the leaves

Once the Old Olive blending is complete, carefully fussy cut around the entire leaf design.

These leaves will become the greenery underneath your die-cut flowers.

Apply small dots of liquid adhesive to the back of the fussy-cut leaf piece.

Place it in the center of the hexagon/envelope layer.

10. Stamp the greeting

Using Melon Mambo Classic Stampin’ Ink, stamp “It’s Your Day” onto the label from the Paper Pumpkin kit.

Adhere the greeting to the right side with dimensionals, leave the left side without dimensionals, you can add the Linen Thread bow later.

11. Add the flowers

Die cut approximately six flowers from Pretty in Pink cardstock using the Detailed Florals Dies.

Adhere the flowers around the leaf layer, attach the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

12. Turn the small flower pieces into embellishments

Instead of using the tiny flower pieces as traditional flower centers, use them as scattered flowers around the card.

Add a small dot of liquid adhesive wherever you'd like to place one.

Use your Take Your Pick Tool to pick up the tiny flowers and place them onto the adhesive.

Use approximately six small flowers scattered around the main floral arrangement.

13. Add the Sunset Sequins & Bow

Add the Sunset Sequins to the centers of the larger flowers.

Use the larger sequins for the daisy-style flowers and the smaller sequins for the rounder flowers.

This adds a pretty touch of shine to the floral arrangement.

Cut approximately 10" of Linen Thread.

Tie a small bow, or create a faux bow if you prefer.

Place a Glue Dot in the center of the bow and tuck under the greeting on the left side.
