Surprise Peek-A-Boo Door – Alternative Handmade Card Idea For October 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit

Each card has layers you can open to revel a special Christmas message, spreading joy and love in every envelope.


Today I am sharing with you the technique I used to make the hinges used to open and close each layer. For decorating ideas see images or video below.

Create the hinges-

1- You can use Window Sheets like I have or regular white cardstock.

2- Cut a scrap of Window Sheet to the left-side height of the House Die Cut and 1”.

3- Use a Paper Trimmer to score the Window Sheet in half at about ½”. Fold in half and use a Bone Folder to make a strong crease.


4- Apply Tear & Tape Adhesive on both side of the folded Window Sheet.


5- Remove the paper backing from one side and attach it to the House Die Cut behind the left edge. The folded edge of the Window Sheet should be along the outside edge of the Die Cut.


6- Remove the paper backing from the other side. Line up the House Die Cut on the cardbase where you want it.


TIP: When doing a smaller uneven shape like the Large Tree Die Cut. Cut a long thin strip of Window Sheet about ¼” x 3”. Add it to the largest part of the Die Cut (at the bottom), so it can open all the way.
