With Father’s Day just around the corner I thought I would share with you a great handmade card layout idea that you can use to create either a mountain / camping themed card or beach themed card. I used the A Good Man Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! along with either the Mountain Air Stamp Set & Coordinating Majestic Mountain Dies or the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set & Coordinating Seaside Seashells Dies. Mountain
1- Begin by creating the mountain background scene:
Begin with the detail mountain image and stamp with Memento Black ink in the center of the Basic White Cardstock. Then clean and flip the stamp over and stamp with Smoky Slate ink off center from the first mountain range. Then ink one more time, stamp off on to scrap paper and then stamp on the cardstock off setting again. This creates depth to your mountain range.
Next, ink the detail tree image in Mossy Meadow and stamp it in the white area at the bottom of the mountains. Clean and flip the stamp over. Then ink again in Mossy Meadow and stamp off on scrap paper and then on the cardstock in the open area above the detail trees and below the mountains.
Then with a blending brushes add Mossy Meadow at
the bottom and Balmy Blue at the top.
2- Stamp the lounging man image in Memento Black ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then color in with your choice of Stampin’ Blend Markers. I used Ivory and Bronze for the skin tones. Then Balmy Blue for the shirt, Mossy Meadow for the shorts, So Saffron & Ivory for the hat, and Smoky Slate for the chair. Then fussy cut out, I did use an Xacto knife to remove some areas inside the image.
3- Emboss the 4” x 5 ¼” Sahara Sand Cardstock with the Bark 3D Embossing Folder. Add it to the center of the Sahara Sand Cardstock. Layer the background mountain scene image in the center.
4- Cut out two pine trees from the Majestic Mountain Dies in Mossy Meadow and Old Olive Cardstock. I did add Adhesive Sheets to the back of the cardstock before running it through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Add the Mossy Meadow about 1” from the left edge of the mountain background. Then add the Old Olive tree just to the left and a little lower.
5- Add the lounging man image with dimensionals in front of the Mossy Meadow tree.
6- Stamp your greeting in Memento Black Ink on a 1 ¼” circle in Crushed Curry Cardstock. Add adhesive to the back and wrap 8” of Linen Thread back and forth to create a faux bow. Add to the card with dimensionals to the left near the man.
Seaside
1- Begin by creating the seaside background scene:
Tear the Water Pattern DSP on one long side and attach to
the bottom of the Sand Pattern.
2- Stamp the lounging man image in Memento Black ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then color in with your choice of Stampin’ Blend Markers. I used Ivory and Bronze for the skin tones. Then Balmy Blue for the shirt, Mossy Meadow for the shorts, So Saffron & Ivory for the hat, and Smoky Slate for the chair. Then fussy cut out, I did use an Xacto knife to remove some areas inside the image.
3- Emboss the 4” x 5 ¼” Sahara Sand Cardstock with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. Add it to the center of the Sahara Sand Cardstock. Layer the background seaside DSP in the center.
4- Stamp and die cut your choice of images from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set.
With Mossy Meadow Cardstock cut out a little seaweed from the large die. Trim it to the size you want.
I used the Sand Dollar image by creating a watercolor wash of Sahara Sand & Mossy Meadow ink, let dry and the stamped in the image on top. Then added a little texture with a Sponge Dauber and Sahara Sand ink.
For the Starfish I stamped in Sahara Sand and added some texture with a Sponge Dauber and So Saffron Ink.
And for the seaweed images I stamped one in each image in Mossy Meadow on Pear Pizzazz Cardstock.
5- Then add the images in a nice collage to the left of the background. I began with the large Mossy Meadow die cut seaweed and added it to the upper left corner of the seaside background. Then placed the sand dollar below and to the left. Add the lounging man image with dimensionals below the seaweed and to the right of the sand dollar. Place the starfish with dimensionals to the left of the man. Tuck in the little stamped seaweeds between the other images.
6- Stamp your greeting in Memento Black Ink on a ½” strip of Basic White Cardstock. Place on the card with dimensionals above the starfish and over the man slightly.
7- Unravel 8” of Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim. Take
3-4 pieces and tie a bow. Adhere with glue dots under the starfish. Trim the
ends.
