I'm so excited to share Alternative
Card #5 from the May 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit!
One of my favorite ways to stretch a Paper Pumpkin kit is by looking beyond the obvious supplies—and the envelopes are often some of the most beautiful pieces in the entire kit! For this card, I used one of the printed envelopes as the background, allowing the gorgeous sunset sky to become the focal point.
One of my favorite things about this
design is the subtle color theory happening in the artwork. The trees at
the bottom appear to be green, but if you look closely, they're actually
created by printing blue ink over the yellow sunset background. It's
such a clever design technique that creates a rich green without ever using
green ink!
Combined with the repeated
"Wonderful" die cuts, this card is simple, modern, and lets the
beautiful printed artwork do all the work.

Card Assembly Instructions
1. Create the Background
Carefully cut apart the matching envelope
to the Lantern Cardbase from the kit. Trim the front to 4” x 5-1/4".
Stamp in Misty Moonlight ink the trees
along the bottom in the yellow area. You can create different heights and
elongated the trees by turning the stamp 180 degrees and matching up the
straight edges.
Stamp the Stars in Blackberry Bliss ink
randomly in the Purple & Orange areas. Splatter with Blackberry Bliss Blend
Marker.
Add to the center of the cardbase.
2. Add the Focal Panel
Cut 6 Wonderful Die Cut from the
Wonderful Scenes Dies in Blackberry Bliss Cardstock. Add Adhesive Sheets to the
back before cutting.
Stack two Wonderful Die Cuts together to
create a thicker Die Cut. This will give you a total of 3 Wonderful Dies Cuts.
Add all three, one below the other, on
the vellum piece leaving a little space at the bottom.
Adhere the Vellum to the center of the
cardbase with little glue dots behind the words.
3. Finish the Sentiment
Layer in the open space at the bottom of
the Vellum piece two 1/8" strips of Silver Foil. Trim the ends to an
angle.
Cut 18” of White Baker’s Twine in half
and create a faux bow on the right side of the Silver Foil Strips.
Finish the greeting by stamping "You" in Blackberry Bliss ink on a small banner. Adhere it to the center of the bow.
Repeating the word three times creates a
bold graphic element while giving the card a modern layered look.
My Favorite Design Detail
The artwork on this envelope is
absolutely gorgeous, but what really caught my attention was the clever color
theory used in the design.
At first glance, the trees along the
bottom look like they're printed in green ink. But they're actually created by
printing blue ink over the warm yellow portion of the sunset. Since blue
and yellow visually combine to create green, your eye naturally interprets the
trees as green—even though no green ink was used!
It's such a simple but brilliant printing
technique, and it's one of those little artistic details that makes me
appreciate the design of this kit even more.
Why I Love This Card
This card is a great reminder that every
piece of a Paper Pumpkin kit can become part of a beautiful project—including
the envelopes!
The dramatic sunset, layered sentiments,
and subtle texture all come together without needing lots of extra supplies.
The repeated "Wonderful" die cuts create a striking focal point,
while the envelope artwork provides all the color and interest.
Sometimes the simplest cards are the most
eye-catching!
