Three Alternative Cards Made From the Candle Cardbase in the August 2024 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Stampin' Up!

Hi Everyone and welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey. Over the next couple days I am going to share with you a ton of great card ideas you can make with one set of supplies from the August 2024 Paper Pumpkin Kit called Time For Cake.

The projects from this kit are so fun and perfect to celebrate any birthday, from young to old. The fun Balloon and Candle images have beautiful Rose Gold Foil details and go perfect with the rich colors. This month we received 2 stamp sets in the kit which complement each other perfectly. The kit creates a total of 9 greeting cards 3 in three different designs. If you would like to watch me unbox the kit and create these cards click on the playlist below.

Each month I take the contents from the paper pumpkin kits and make alternative projects. My cards are easy to follow and can be made by both experienced or new paper crafter. You may need just a couple other products to complete them. You can follow along with me using supplies you already have or purchase any products you see me use from my online store. A full supply list is below or on my blog –

Today I am sharing with you my first set of alternative cards. I have made all three cards from the candle fun fold cardbase. By cutting it up into sections you have so many more possibilities. Here are three fun layouts.

Prep

1- Cut the Candle Fun Fold Piece into 4 sections. Starting on the left side and measuring the top left corner at the measurements below:

  • 2 ¼” – save for another alternative project coming soon.
  • 3 ¼” – Card #1
  • 3-11/16” – Card #2
  • 4-5/16” last piece – Card #3

2- Trim the folded edges of one Moody Mauve Envelope so you can access the pattern paper inside. Cut a strip ¾” x 3-11/16”. Use for Card #2

3- Remove the Back of the Cake Cardbase. Trim off the White Plate at ½” and remove ½” from the top Moody Mauve area. Final Size should be 3 ¾” x 5”. Use for Card #1

Card #1 – Happy Birthday

Thick Basic White Cardbase – 4 ¼” x 11” scored at 5 ½”

Pretty In Pink Circle – 1 ½” Diameter

Candle Piece – kit 3 ¼” x 3 ¾”

Back of Cake Cardbase – kit 3 ¾” x 5”

Arched Banner – kit

Rose Gold Metallic Twine – kit 4 ½” & 12” pieces

1- Add the Candle piece to the Cake Cardbase (Back) piece just above the blue section with dimensionals.

2- Wrap 4 ½” of Twine around the Cake piece where the two pieces meet, attaching the ends to the back. Add this to the center of the Thick Basic White Cardbase with dimensionals.

3- Stamp “Happy Birthday” in Night of Navy on the Arched Banner and add to the bottom of the Candles with dimensionals.

4- Use the Number Stamp Set to add the Age inside the Pretty In Pink Circle with Moody Mauve Ink. Add above the Happy Birthday Banner with dimensionals.

5- With the 12” of Twine create a faux bow and tuck under the right side of the Banner.

6- You can add more embellishments if you want.

All Done!

Card #2 – Make a Wish Vertical

Thick Basic White Cardbase – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 2 ½” & 6 ¾”

Candle Piece – kit 3-11/16” x 3 ¾”

2- Add the Moody Mauve Envelope piece 3/4" x 3-3/4" to the bottom of the Candle piece.

3- Stamp make a wish on the Petal Pink Tag in Night Of Navy ink and add near the bottom of the candles at an angle with dimensionals.
