Masculine Makes Handmade Card - Global Stampin' Video Hop May 2021

Today I have a fun announcement to share. I have been invited to participate with the Global Design Stampin’ Video Hop on YouTube. Each month on the fourth Friday other Stampin’ Up Demonstrators from around the world come together and share their projects based on a monthly theme. May’s Theme is Masculine Makes.

When I created my card for today’s tutorial, I had my outdoor loving husband in mind. He is a great dad to our children and loves hiking. I think this card would be perfect for him on Father’s Day. When I create Masculine Handmade Cards, I always want them to be nice and simple with strong colors and lots of texture. I hope this card inspires you to create something for the men in your life.

Make sure to check out what everyone makes for this monthly Video Hop. You can start with my video, I have linked it below. You can find the next video at the top of the video’s description on YouTube. Have fun!

Here are the dimensions and pieces you will need to create these cards:

From the Kit:

Home Plate Die Cut

2 Small Rectangles

8” Twine

Extra Cardstock:

Basic White Cardbase 4 ¼” x 11” scored at 5 ½” / scrap for stamping

Real Red Cardstock 2 ½” x 3 ¾”

Smoky Slate Cardstock 2 ½” x 3 ½”

Here is a list of the supplies I used to make the cards:

Smoky Slate Cardstock 131202 $8.75

Real Red Cardstock 102482 $8.75

Smoky Slate Ink Pad 147113 $7.50

Real Red Ink Pad 147084 $7.50

Water Painters 151298 $12.00

Paper Trimmer 152392 $25.00

Simply Shammy 147042 $8.00

Stampin’ Seal Adhesive 152813 $8.00

Multipurpose Liquid Glue 110755 $4.00

Tear & Tape Adhesive 138995 $7.00

Dimensionals 104430 $4.00

Clear Block D 118485 $8.50

Paper Snips 103579 $10.00

Bone Folder 102300 $7.00

Stampin' Pierce Mat 126199 $5.00

Take Your Pick Tool 144107 $10.00

1- Stamp the Baseball Bat vertically across the Smoky Slate Cardstock in Smoky Slate ink. Flip the image each time to create a unique lined background that doesn’t really look like Baseball Bats.

2- Stamp the Baseball Hat in Real Red ink on the top and bottom of the Real Red Cardstock.

3- Add the Real Red Cardstock to the center of the cardbase. Then add the Smoky Slate Cardstock on top a little higher than center.

4- Stamp your choice of greeting on the Home Plate. I pushed it to the left so I had room for the other images. Add this to the center of the card at an angle with dimensionals.

5- Stamp one Baseball Bat in smoky slate on Basic White Cardstock. Flip the Baseball Bat stamp over (so the back is now the image you are stamping) ink in Smoky Slate, stamp off on some scratch paper and then over the first stamped image to give a lighter gray color to the highlighted area.

6- Stamp one Baseball Hat in Real Red on Basic White Cardstock. Flip the Hat stamp over (so the back is now the image you are stamping) ink in Real Red, stamp off TWO times on some scratch paper and then over the first stamped hat image multiple times to fill in the highlighted areas with a lighter red hue.

7- Fussy cut out the Baseball Bat & Hat. Add to the card on the right of the Home Plate with dimensionals.

8- Stamp your choice of greetings on the 2 small rectangles and trim the sides if needed. Add these under the larger greeting on the Home Plate with dimensionals.

9- Dye 8” of Twine by adding ink to a clear block. Add the twine to the ink and with water and a brush paint the color onto the twine. Once fully covered, move to a paper towel to dry – you can also use a heat tool.

10- Once dry tie a bow and add it around the Baseball Bat & Hat. Add 3 Yellow Enamel Dots.

All Done!

1- Remove the front from the back of the Woodgrain Cardbase at 4 ¼”. Trim the both pieces to 4” x 5 ¼” Add the front piece to the front of the Soft Suede Cardbase and add the back piece to the inside of the cardbase. (or just use the Woodgrain Cardbase as is)

2- Add the Bumblebee Cardstock to the center of the cardbase.

3- Cut the Red & Yellow Stripe Rectangle in half at 1 ¼”. Add this to the left of the Bumblebee Cardstock with about ¼” showing on the left.

4- To create the Baseball – Use one 2” as your guide. Draw two lines going through the circle at the diameter creating an X shape. The two sides of the circle between the lines is where you will trace the curve onto the second 2” circle. Use a Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker and draw two curves inside the second circle.

Then draw on V shape stiches. Watch video below for a visual. Use a Sponge Dauber and Smoky Slate ink to distress the edges and add a little texture to the inside of the “Ball”.

5- Add the Baseball & Bat to the right side of the Red & Yellow Stripe piece with dimensionals.

6- Stamp the greeting “Greatest” in Night of Navy ink on some scrap Basic White Cardstock. Fussy cut out “Greatest” & other phrases. Stamp “Son” on the Small Rectangle Piece and trim down the sides.  Add these to the card on the left of the Baseball with dimensionals.

7- Add 3 Red Enamel Dots.

All Done!
