This is such a fun card! I love how the greeting “Happy Birthday Chick!” really pops from the busy background made with all the cute chickens from both stamp sets. I share a great tip on how to easily create the bubble shape background for those die cut words and letters. Make sure to check it out below & in the video. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and that it inspires you to create something beautiful today.

1- Randomly Stamp these chickens from both stamp sets on the Basic White Cardstock in Memento Black Ink. From the Hey Chick Stamp Set I used the Crazy Hair Chick, the Chicken looking over it’s shoulder and the egg. From the Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set I used the Chicken standing on one leg.
2- Color using the Stampin’ Blend Markers
Chicken on one leg: Light Smoky Slate along the edges and
shadows in the body to create a white chicken. Take the color lifter and blend
the shadows a little. Light Poppy Parade on top “comb” & under the beak
“wattle” (I looked it up those are really the names of the parts) and Dark So
Saffron for the beak.
Chicken (looking over it’s shoulder): Light Pretty Peacock all over the body (not wings or tail). Dark Pretty Peacock and add shadows, under head- body- wing. Blend shadows with the Light Pretty Peacock. Light Cinnamon Cider to the tail- wing- head- feet/legs. Light Poppy Parade on top “comb”. Dark So Saffron for the beak.
Crazy Hair Chick: Light So Saffron for the body. Light Cinnamon Cider around the body for more color and shadows. Use the So Saffron to blend the color together. Light Cinnamon Cider to tail & head feathers, legs & feet. To add more detail to the tail and head feather use the Light Poppy Parade and add some highlights. Then add it to the beak.
Egg: Light So Saffron on the left edge and Light Pretty Peacock on the right edge under the crack, Light Smoky Slate on the crack and open edges. Blend together with the Color Lifter. Light Cinnamon Cider for the legs.
3- Stamp the Balloon from the Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set in Memento Black Ink and color with Old Olive – Start with the light color as a highlight. Then fill in the rest of the balloon with the dark. Then blend where the two tones meet with light. Cut out with the coordinating die and remove the string from the tail of the chicken.
4- Cut 1 rectangles Poppy Parade cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle Die (3 ¾” x 1 ¾”). Stamp the confetti stamp in Poppy Parade ink on the rectangle. Distress the edges if you would like with a pair of paper snips, fold up any corners you want.
5- Cut 1 Large Circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies from Vellum Cardstock. Ink up the All Wired Up Background Stamp with StazOn Ink and place the vellum circle on top and use your fingers to press randomly on the vellum to get a random look. Distress the edges with your paper snips if you want.
6- Die cut from Old Olive Cardstock the Happy Birthday from the Birthday Chick Dies. Use the Die and trace the outside edge on Basic White Cardstock. Fussy cut out to create a bubble shape layer for behind the Happy Birthday cut out. Remove any pencil markings with an eraser.
7- Die cut from Pretty Peacock Cardstock the letters C H I C K ! from the Playful Alphabet Dies. Trace the outside edge of each letter making sure they touch. Fussy cut along the outside edge and remove the other pencil lines with an eraser.
8- Adhere the die cut word & letters to the bubble shape.
9- Add a piece of In Good Taste DSP – Burlap Pattern (4 ¼” x 5 ½”) to the front of the card. Distress the edges with a pair of paper snips. You can also scratch the pattern to remove the top layer and show the white underneath.
10- Add the stamped chickens in the center. Place the Poppy Parade Cardstock in the middle running horizontally. Add the Vellum circle to the center with some adhesive in the center.
11- Add the “chick” with dimensionals, then place “happy birthday” on top with dimensionals at a slight angle to “chick”. Add the balloon with a dimensional on the right with the string tucked under the “K”. Add five rhinestones around the greeting.
All Done!
