Must Try Cardmaking Technique - Global Stampin' Video Hop August 2021 - Stampin' Up!

Today is another tutorial for the Global Stampin’ Video Hop on YouTube. Each month on the fourth Friday other Stampin’ Up Demonstrators from around the world come together and share their projects based on a monthly theme. August’s Theme is Must Try Cardmaking Techniques. I don’t know about you but I am very excited to see what everyone comes up with.

For my Technique I wanted to try something I saw on Jennifer McGuire’s YouTube Channel. It was a swinging element to reveal a message. Today I am showing you my version of her technique with Stampin’ Up products. I hope you enjoy learning how to make this card and give the technique a try.

Make sure to check out what everyone makes for this monthly Video Hop. You can start with my video, I have linked it below. You can find the next video at the top of the video’s description on YouTube. Have fun!

1- Using the Stamparatus stamp the Knit Together Stamp on the Crumb Cake Cardstock in Crumb Cake ink. To make the ink lighter I went over the stamp with a Blending Brush before stamping.

2- Layer the Harvest Meadow DSP over the Crumb Cake Cardstock and then add the leaf embellishment from Artistic Dies cut from Rose Gold Metallic Paper to the right side.

3- Cut from the two Early Espresso Cardstock pieces the large doilies from the Encircled In Beauty Dies and layer the more decorative one on top to give some dimension to the circle. This will the your swinging door.

4- Stamp your large greeting in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla Cardstock and cut out with the 3” Circle die. This will layer over the Early Espresso “swinging door” but do not adhere it right now.

5- I choose to cut a hole with the small “balloon” die from the Hippo & Friends Dies because it is large enough for a dimensional to go inside the opening. You can use something else if you have a circle that is similar in size. Place the “balloon” die at the top of the Swinging Door where it will be covered by the greeting. Cut out.

6- Place the Swinging Door on the background layers from step 2 and mark where you will cut the same “balloon” shape. Then cut it out.

7- Adhere a dimensional to the 1” circle. Place the hole from the background layers over the dimensional. Then place the Swinging Door over the dimensional. Remove the paper backing from the dimensional and add the greeting to the top of the Swinging Door – make sure to add more adhesive to the back of the greeting. This should now swing freely.

8- Adhere the Background layers to the cardbase. Keep the adhesive away from the 1” circle. This needs to move freely.

9- Swing the door up to the top position and stamp your hidden greeting in Early Espresso ink. Then add any embellishments you want, like a strip of Ribbon or a bow & Gems.

All Done!
