IN BLOOM BUNDLE - Quick Tip - How I add depth and color to the Pierced Blooms Dies from Stampin' Up!

Today I am sharing another card from my Stampin’ Up 2021 Artisan Design Team showcase project in January 2021.

If you would like to see all my projects together you can visit my blog post here:

For this card I wanted to focus on using the Dies that come bundled with the In Bloom Stamp Set. These dies have such a fun look with the pierced details. I wanted to step them up a bit by adding a light watercolor wash with ink of the same color as the cardstock. This fun technique gives the Pierced Blooms Dies depth and color. You can use this technique in many different ways, try it with a darker ink color or on White Cardstock. Either way it is fun! I hope you enjoy this tutorial and that it inspires you to create something beautiful today.

1- Cut two pieces from the Paper Bloom DSP that coordinate. Top piece 3 ½” x 4 ¾”. Bottom piece 3 ¾” x 5” Add these to the cardbase at opposing angles.

2- Cut out the flower and leaf shapes with coordinating cardstock, I used Rococo Rose, Petal Pink, Old Olive, Soft Sea Foam, and Seaside Spray. Cut out a label from Night of Navy cardstock.

3- On the die cuts, add a watercolor wash with coordinating ink colors over parts of the shapes. If you want a darker color add more ink and less water, for lighter add more water than ink. You could also use darker ink colors if you want a stronger look. Let dry.

4- Add pearls to the center of the flower die cuts. For the larger flowers I clustered three pearls together.

5- Add the Night of Navy label about 1/3” from the top and centered on the cardbase with a single dimensional in the center. This will give you space to tuck the flower and leaves around the label. You can always add more dimensionals after.

6- Start with the large flowers and place them in opposite corners. Then add the leaves.

7- Stamp the greeting in Night of Navy ink in the center of the Basic White strip and adhere to the center of the label with a couple dimensionals.

8- Add the medium & small flowers around the label & greeting.

All Done
