Here are some quick TIPS & TRICKS that you may find helpful when using your New Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.
If your machine is sliding while you are using it – wipe the rubber feet with a clean wet rag or your simply shammy to remove any dust that has accumulated.
To keep your plates from warping too much. Flip them from one side to the other. The rule of thumb I use is if there is a gap between the base plate and the bottom clear plate (When I press the center and it goes up and down) then I need to flip it so the center is laying flat on the base plate. By running the plate through the machine like this it will flatten the curve.
Keep your top clear cutting pad #3 always on top and your bottom clear cutting pad #3 always on the bottom. Over time this will ensure that you don’t get any texture transferred from the cutting plate on the top of your cardstock.
In this picture my top plate is on the left and the bottom plate is on the right. You can see that the bottom plate has many cut marks- this creates a texture that can transfer to your cardstock.
If your paper sticks to your dies (not a machine issue – it sometimes happens when you have intricate dies) You can use a little dry bar soap on the inside of the die. Just rub the die gently over the soap, tap off any excess, and then run through your machine as usual.
If you are using dies or embossing folders that are manufactured by other companies or older SU products, use shims (extra thin pieces of paper) as needed to create enough pressure to work properly in your New Cut & Emboss Machine.
I have also created a video walking you through putting your machine together, using your machine with dies and embossing folders, and my tips & tricks.

Hi Chelsey,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the demo and tips for this new fabulous machine. I recently received mine and have used it with great success. I’d like to know if you have tried embossing with dies with this machine; I know it was possible with the Big Shot but involved a lot of extra shims, etc. I appreciate your input.
By the way, I Really like your blog and videos
