For today's tutorial I would like to share with you a unique technique to achieve a painted look using heat embossing powder. I really like how it changes plain cardstock into a more artistic looking accent piece for handmade cards. I paired this technique with Stampin Up Peaceful Boughs Stamp Set and it's coordinating dies Beautiful Boughs. I hope you enjoy this video and give this technique a try.

- On a paper plate mix about a teaspoon of liquid glue (any type) with a couple drops of water.
- Use a paintbrush to paint the glue over your cardstock. I used Real Red. Make sure to have different thicknesses of glue to give some variety.
- Apply the Heat Emboss Powder all over the glue.
- Heat with a heat tool to melt the powder until it has a shinny sheen.
- Stamp the single bough from the Peaceful Boughs stamp set in Stazon Ink. I kept the images along the bottom of the cardstock.
- On the strip of Basic Black cardstock stamp the greeting in VersaMark.
- Apply white embossing powder to the greeting.
- With a clean / dry paintbrush remove any excess powder.
- Heat with your heat tool.
- Use the small label and single bough die from the Beautiful Boughs Dies to cut the greeting and 3 boughs.
- Adhere the Real Red Cardstock to the Garden Green Cardstock at an angle.
- Adhere to the Thick White Cardbase at an angle.
- Cut a piece of ribbon just shy of 5.5"
- Add some wrapped silver metallic thread to the back of the greeting. I used snail to adhere it.
- Add the cut out boughs. I place one on the top left, bottom left, and bottom right of the greeting. Add dimensionals to the back.
- Place the greeting over the ribbon and position it in the bottom left corner of the card front. I didn't want anything to hang over the edge of the card. So the boughs just barely touch the edges.
- Adhere the ribbon to the card.
- Place 3 green enamel dots around the greeting.
All done!
I have also create a video showing the technique and tips. Check it out now.
