Last month was full of fun Challenges over on the TGIF Challenges Blog. Have you had a chance to be inspired by all the inspiration?
I participated in one of the challenges during January and never shared them here on my blog. So today I want to give you the tutorials on how I put together this great Birthday Card using the Carnival Treats Stamp Set & a SVG Digital File I created.

This was a great challenge and really helped me by sparking
my creativity. I love the images in Carnival Treats Stamp Set and by adding the
Greeting & Candles it shouts let’s have a party!
Here are the products I used to make these cards:

Lemon Lolly Cardbase – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”
Lemon Lolly Cardstock – 4 ¼” x 5 ½”
Vellum Cardstock – 2 ½” x 4 ¾”
Basic White Cardstock – scraps for stamping
Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather,
Flirty Flamingo Cardstock Scraps for Candle Die Cuts

Step-by-step instructions:
1- Stamp background image from Rays of Light Stamp Set in
Lemon Lolly ink on Lemon Lolly Cardstock. I like to lay the cardstock on top of
the large stamp after inking and use a Brayer to press down. Begin the Brayer
in the middle and roll to the edges to get a smooth application.
2- Trim down the cardstock to 4 1/8” x 5 3/8” and place in the center of the cardbase with the circle at the bottom.
3- Stamp three Donuts in Crumb Cake ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then stamp another three donuts, one in each color; Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather, Balmy Blue inks.
4- Fussy cut out all the Crumb Cake Donuts along the outside edges. This will be the base. Make sure to also cut out the center hole.
5- Fussy cut out all three colored Donuts, but only the Frosting section. Make sure to also cut out the center hole.
6- Layer the Frosting on each Donut with liquid adhesive.
7- Add a little extra touch to each Donut by adding Pearlized Enamel Effects over each of the Sprinkles. I love how it give a 3D look. Repeat for all Donuts. Let dry.
8- Add dimensionals to the back of all the Donuts. Lay them on the Vellum piece. I placed the Highland Heather in the bottom right corner, the Flirty Flamingo to the left of center and along the top edge, the Balmy Blue in the bottom left corner.
9- Stamp your greeting in Azure Afternoon on Basic White
Cardstock scrap. Use a Label Die to cut out. I used the smallest from the
Thoughtful Expression Dies. Place your greeting in the center of the Donuts
with dimensionals.
10- To make the Candles, cut out three Candle Border Shapes in Basic White Cardstock. Cut out one Solid Background Shape in each color to coordinate with the donut colors. Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, Flirty Flamingo Cardstock. Cut the Large Flame Shape in Lemon Lolly Cardstock and the Small Flame Shape in Daffodil Delight.
11- To add depth to the candles you can add shadow to the Solid Background Shapes with Blend Markers. I used Balmy Blue Blends on the Blue Background by adding the Dark Marker along the right and bottom edge, then blend with the Light Marker the center of the shape. Leaving the Left side untouched. Repeat with the other Solid Background Shapes: Fresh Freesia Blends on Highland Heather Cardstock & Flirty Flamingo Blends on Firty Flamingo Cardstock.
12- Layer the pieces together to create the finished Candles. Place the Solid Background Shape behind the White Border Shape. You can add adhesive by tapping it in a small amount of liquid glue (see video). Lay the Large Flame on top of the White Flame, then the Small Flame on top of the Large Flame with a small dot of glue.
13- Add the Candles near the greeting with Tear & Tape. I placed the pink on the right side under the label and on top of the donut. The other two are on the left side.
14- Add the Vellum to the center of the cardbase with adhesive behind the elements so it doesn’t show.
15- Add a couple dots with the Pearlized Enamel Effects
around the elements. Let dry.
