Beautiful Seascape Handmade Card - July Paper Pumpkin Kit & How To Distress Embossed Cardstock

Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here at Creative Chelsey. I love getting my Paper Pumpkin Kit every month and creating fun alternative projects using the supplies in the kit. Today I am sharing my third alternative idea using the July 2022 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Sending Good Thoughts. Thank you for your patience as my family and I have been on vacation and I wasn’t able to get all these out in the same week.

This kit comes with everything you need to make 9 Handmade Cards, 3 in three different designs. This kit has a fun nautical feeling to it. I love the stamps & die cut images. What I like to do is use the supplies in the kit along with some other products and create different or alternative cards. Today’s card is one of my favorites from the cards I have made from this kit. I love the distressing on the embossed cardstock, the seagulls, and the color combination. I love creating alternative projects with Paper Pumpkin Kits so make sure to come back for more as I continue to create with this month’s kit.

If this project inspires you to create something, I would love for you to tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey | #creativechelsey or email me at chelsey@creativechelsey.com

1- Cut the Seascape embossed piece in half at 2 5/8”. Use a little sand paper or sanding block to remove a little of the cardstock from the top of the cardstock. This works best with WHITE core cardstock.

2- Trim the edges of the envelope and then trim down the large front piece to 3 ¾” x 5”. Add this to the center of the cardbase. Then add the distressed embossed piece in the center on top.

3- Next layer the Large Bottle Die Cut on the left side of the cardbase with dimensionals. Cut the coral in half and adhere with glue dots over the left half of the jar bottle.

4- Next stamp the greeting in Basic Gray ink on a piece of Basic White Cardstock that is about 3/8” x 3”. If you need to you can trim the sides to fit. Add this to the card with dimensionals.

5- Stamp the Starfish Die Cut with the net pattern stamp with the Bermuda Bay ink spot to give it some detail. You can use the “rock & roll” technique if you want. Pop it up with a dimensional on the bottle under the greeting.

6- Add two Seagulls with dimensionals in the top right corner.

7- Add some fun embellishments. I used the Adhesive Backed Sequins & Gems. I thought they looked like sea glass.

I have also created a video walking you through each step and some of the details from the other cards:
