Today is another tutorial for the Global Stampin’ Video Hop on YouTube. Each month on the fourth Friday other Stampin’ Up Demonstrators from around the world come together and share their projects based on a monthly theme. June’s Theme is 2021-2022 Must Have Craft Item.
When thinking about my Must Have Craft Item from the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog the Soft Pastel Assortment immediately came to mind. I love having new coloring tools to play and experiment with. Today I will be sharing with you three different ways to use the Soft Pastels from Stampin’ Up. I hope this card inspires you to create with this fun craft item.
Make sure to check out what everyone makes for this monthly Video Hop. You can start with my video, I have linked it below. You can find the next video at the top of the video’s description on YouTube. Have fun!

1- Stamp the large flower on the stem in Evening Evergreen on Basic White Cardstock.
2- Technique #1: VersaMark Ink
Stamp the fill in images that coordinate with the large
flower & small flower with VersaMark ink.
Choose two Soft Pastels colors for your flowers, I did Mango Melody & Poppy Parade. On scratch paper rub the pastels to create a chalky dust. With a Sponge Dauber pick up the dust and pat it over the VersaMark images. Avoid rubbing as it will tint the cardstock as well. Remove the excess dust by blowing it off or lightly wiping it using a soft tissue.
Repeat for the leaves of the stem with the Mossy Meadow
Soft Pastel. Make sure to use a different Sponge Dauber.
3- Technique #2: Blender Pen
With a Blender Pen pick up color directly from the Mossy
Meadow Pastel and add it to more delicate areas like the stem. Continue to go
back and pick up color as the pen loses color. To clean the tip rub on some
scratch paper until it runs clear.
4- Cut out with the coordinating die.
5- Technique #3: Create a Gradient
Choose one or multiple colors for a background gradient
or ombre look. On the Basic White 3 ¾” Cardstock piece place a lot of color, I
used Mango Melody, in the center.
Then take a soft tissue and blend the color out to create a nice gradient.
6- Cut out the Scallop edge die in Mango Melody. Then add it to the Basic White Cardstock that has the gradient about 1/3 way from the bottom. Trim the sides.
7- Add the large stamped flower coming off the right side
and above the scallop edge.
8- Add some Adhesive Sheet to the back of Poppy Parade & Mossy Meadow, then cut out some flowers and leaves. Then tuck the large flower and leaf behind the stamped flower and the smaller ones at the bottom over the scallop edge.
9- From the Tailor Made Tags Die cut out the 1” wide tag and stamp the “Thanks” greeting in Evening Evergreen. Then cut 4” of Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim. String through the tag. Then wrap around the Mossy Meadow Trim with 8” of White Bakers Twine and tie a bow. Unravel the ends of the Mossy Meadow Trim. Trim the ends. Adhere this to the card with dimensionals.
10- Add everything on the Mossy Meadow Cardstock so about 1/16 border is showing. Then add this to the center of the So Saffron Cardbase. Last add 5 Elegant Faceted Gems in White around the images.
All Done!
