This is such a fun interactive card! I love how adding the Pull Tab makes the Joey jumping in and out of the mother’s pouch. 1- Stamp the large and ½ Kangaroo (on 1 ½” square) in Early Espresso Ink and color using the Bronze, Ivory, & Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Markers. Use any combination. I always did the darker color on the body and lighter for the little elements like, ears, nose, belly. Cut the large Kangaroo out with coordinating die. Keep the ½ Kangaroo for step #6 below.
2- Stamp 3 groupings of flowers in Memento Black Ink and color with the coordinating Stampin’ Blend Markers. I used Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, & Old Olive. Cut out with coordinating die.
3- Emboss the 4 1/8” x 5 3/8” Basic White Cardstock in a subtle texture. Then emboss the Petal Pink Cardstock with the Stitched With Whimsy Dies to add the cute stitched details. Add these to the cardbase.
4- On the 3” x 4” Basic White Cardstock use the blending brushes and Pool Party & Pear Pizzazz Ink Pads to create a blended background. Add some grass to the bottom Pear Pizzazz area with Pear Pizzazz ink. See video below for tips.
Creating the Pull Tab:
5- Place the large Kangaroo on the blended background where
you want it to go (no adhesive). Use the small rectangle die from the Kangaroo
Dies and place it over the Kangaroo so the rectangle is full covered by the
Kangaroo and the rectangle has the pouch slit inside. Use washi tape to keep
the die in place as you slide the Kangaroo out. Run through your Stampin’ Cut
& Emboss Machine.
6- Do a partial die cut with the ½” Kangaroo: Match up the coordinating die and use washi tape to hold in place. Place on the cutting plates, but only add the top cutting plate over the body of the Kangaroo, do not have it cover the bottom. Run through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. This should cut all around the Kangaroo but leave the bottom attached to the cardstock. Take a pair of scissors and cut straight from the left side of the cardstock to the bottom left of the kangaroo and do the same on the right. This will create a stopper for the Joey so he doesn’t come all the way out of the pouch.
7- Place the Joey inside the pouch by folding up the “stopper”. You may need to open the pouch a little more to get to Joey to tuck inside deeper, I just used paper snips. Adhere the Kangaroo only to the blending background with strong adhesive. You can add a dimensional to the head if you want. Make sure no adhesive is showing through the opening on the back. If so, cover it up with scrap paper.
8- Create a guide for the pull tab: Cut a decorative edge to the ½” strip of Pool Party with the Lovely Labels Punch. Add a hole with a hole punch. Line up the pull tab to the Joey on the back and add two strips of Foam Adhesive to each side to create a guide. Attach the bottom -stopper only- of the Joey to the pull tab with small strips of Foam Adhesive. Make sure everything is placed in it’s lowest position – Joey is all the way into the pouch and the pull tab is about ¼”- ½” from the top of the blended background.
9- Add Foam Strips around the edges of the blended background. Adhere to the center of the cardbase. Add 10” of White Twine into the hole for the pull tab and tie a bow. Add the three flower groupings to the bottom of the blended background. Stamp the greeting inside a Basic White Cardstock cut with the small rectangle die, attach with dimensionals above the tail. Add three Opal Rounds.
