October 2019 Paper Pumpkin - How I turned the Snowflake Stamp into Autumn Leaves

Welcome,
I am so excited to share with you today this Alternative Card using the October 2019 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Winter Woods!  Can you believe I made these leaves from a snowflake stamp? Well I did and it was so fun to think outside of the box and come up with this totally different idea from the original cards.

This is such a fun subscription kit from Stampin Up with everything you need to create the original card, but with a couple extra supplies you can create all different types of projects like this handmade card. I love creating alternative cards and projects with Paper Pumpkin Kits so make sure to come back for more videos as I continue to create with this kit.

1- On the Whisper White Cardstock use Early Espresso Ink and stamp the snowflake all over. By rotating the stamp, you should be able to fit 3 snowflakes across and 4 snowflakes down. See image.
2- Use the Old Olive, Crushed Curry, and Cajun Craze ink pads and sponge daubers to add color to each snowflake.
Start with the Old Olive and rub the green into the center of each snowflake.
3- Add Crushed Curry from the green to the edges of the snowflakes.
If needed you can go back and add more green to the center if you would like.
4- With the Cajun Craze just add a little hint of color randomly around the snowflakes by tapping the sponge daubers onto the cardstock.
5- Take a pair of paper snips and cut out each section of the snowflake. Use the tips of each line as a guide and cut a leaf shape.
See image
6- Open an envelope from the kit. We will be working on the wood grain paper inside. Trim off the flaps.
7- Before adding the white tree trunk from the kit. Stamp with the snowball stamp in Early Espresso on the left side and bottom area of the wood grain paper to give some texture behind the tree and leaves. I forgot this step until after I glued the trees and leaves. But this picture give you a good idea where to place the snowballs.
8- Cut one pair of trees from the cut-outs that came with the kit.
9- Glue the trips with the shimmery side up to the left of center on the wood grain paper.
10- The easiest way to add the leaves to the tree is by adding small drops of liquid glue around the branches and trees. You will be working in layers to don't do too many at a time and space them out since the leaves are bigger than they look.
11- Use a pick-up tool and add the leaves to the dots of glue. Place them at different angles to create a more realistic look.
12- Continue this process to add leaves to the tree till you get the shape and look you want.
13- Add some leaves to the ground beneath the tree. I ran a small bead of glue along the bottom of the wood grain paper and covered it with leaves. Then added a couple more just at the base of the trees.
14- Cut any word from the Well Written Dies. I used "welcome" and cut it 2 times from a strip of Crushed Curry cardstock with the Big Shot or similar die cutting machine.
15- Glue the two pieces together with some liquid glue. I wanted my word to have a little bit of a curve to it so I gently bent it into a slight curve.
16- From about 8" of twine tie a bow. I used the Cajun Craze Linen Thread from the Holiday Catalog, but regular linen thread would work too.
17- On the Cajun Craze cardstock run an open pair of paper snips over each edge, this will distress the edges.
18- With a bone folder curl up each edge.
19- Add this at an angle to the front of the Crumb Cake card base with snail adhesive.
20- Once the leaves have dried, cut down the wood grain paper to 3 3/4" x 5". I used a rotary paper cutter because of the extra thickness from the leaves.
21- Distress the edges of the tree/wood grain paper with paper snips. Be careful around the leaves, you don't want to pull any leaves off the paper.
22- Use dimensionals to adhere down the paper to the front of the card at a slight angle.
23- Use liquid glue to add the greeting to the right side of the card, just below the leaves on the tree.
24- Add the bow to the larger trunk with a small drop of glue just above the pile of leaves at the base of the tree.
