New Handmade Card Technique SMOOSHING To Create Two Beautiul Backgrounds - Gather Together Stamp Set

For this tutorial I would like to share with you a technique I just learned. I am calling it SMOOSHING, simply it is where you take a blended background, add water, then lay die cuts and another piece of paper over and smoosh everything together in a die cutting machine. You can even repeat the steps again to get more colors and unique look to your background pieces. This technique gives you 2 background cardstocks and some die cut to use on your cards.

I hope you enjoy this handmade card tutorial and come back for more. I would love to see your finished creations that are inspired by this tutorial! You can tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey | #creativechelsey or email me at chelsey@creativechelsey.com

Smooshing Technique:
1- Begin by creating a blend with Sponge Daubers and Crushed Curry, Terracotta Tile, Cherry Cobbler & Merry Merlot Ink Pads on one of the 4 ¼” x 5 ½” pieces of Shimmery White Cardstock
2- Cut out 6 embossed leaves from another piece of Shimmery White Cardstock  using the Gathered Leaves Dies.
3- Place some paper towels under your working area and spritz the blended cardstock with water. Lay the die cut leaves, embossed side down, over the wet cardstock. Add the last piece of Shimmery White cardstock on top of everything and run it all through your die cutting machine.
4- Carefully remove everything, and then repeat. Laying the die cut leaves in different areas and rotating the top cardstock layer to get a variety of colors. Run through your Die Cutting Machine again.

5- Remove pieces and layout to dry.

Stamping and Cutting:
6- On the 2 ¾” strip of Whisper White Cardstock stamp the leaf image from Gather Together Stamp Set, 2 times in Crushed Curry, and 1 time in each Terracotta Tile, Cherry Cobbler & Merry Merlot. Stamp the bundle of Wheat image 3 times in Cinnamon Cider.
7- Using a Blender Pen color in each leaf pulling color from the stamped image.
8- Using the coordinating die, cut out each leaf. Then fussy cut around each bundle of wheat.
9- Cut out from the Gold Foil Sheet 5 bunches of small leaves from the Christmas Cardinal Dies.
10- Cut out the smaller labels from the Hippo & Friends Dies from the other strip of Whisper White Cardstock. Keep the cardstock in the die and using a small stylus (Take Your Pick Tool) press around the inside edge of the die creating a bevel look. Do this to both dies.
Stamp your greeting in Merry Merlot in the center.
11- Once dry, run the background cardstocks through your die cutting machine with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. Add each cut leaf back into it’s matching die and re-emboss by running through your die cutting machine again.
12- Trim the background pieces to your desired size. Card #1 (leaf impression blend) 4” x 5 ¼”. Card #2 (sold blend) 3 ¾” x 5”.

Putting the Cards Together:
Card #1:
1- Add the background piece to the center of the cardbase with liquid adhesive. Smooth out the glue so it doesn’t dry and create bubbles.

2- Using the greeting label as a placeholder. Adhere the Merry Merlot and Terracotta Tile leaves, 1 of each size of die cut leaves, and the 3 bundles of wheat around the greeting.
3- Add 13” of Ribbon to the back of the greeting in a “z” shape. Add to the center of the leaves with dimensionals.
4- Tuck in 3 bunches of gold leaves.
Card #2:
1- Add the background piece to the center of the cardbase with liquid adhesive. Smooth out the glue so it doesn’t dry and create bubbles.
2- Add the 2 Crushed Curry leaves and the Cherry Cobbler leaf to the upper right corner of the cardbase.
Place the last 3 leaf die cuts around the larger leaves
3- Add 10” of Ribbon to the back of the greeting in a “z” shape. Add to the center of the larger leaves with dimensionals.
4- Tuck in 2 bunches of gold leaves around the greeting and add 3 Gems.

All Done!
