January 2020 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card | Beautiful Springtime Handmade Card | Stampin Up

Today’s I have another alternative project using Stampin Up’s January Paper Pumpkin Kit I’ll Bee Yous. This card is the perfect color combination for springtime. I also share an easy technique for creating a watercolor wash background, then add some shimmer with clear embossing and the wink of stella brush.  I love creating alternative cards with Paper Pumpkin Kits so make sure to come back for more videos as I continue to create with this month’s kit.

- Use one of the mini cards and separate the front from the back using a paper trimmer. You should end up with 2- 3” x 3” squares.
- Add ink to the lid of the Highland Heather and Rococo Rose Ink Pads. Use can use an ink refill or when closed you can press the ink pad and lid together to transfer ink to the lid.

- Using a section of the sponge, get the sponge wet and squeeze out some of the water.
- Pick up some of the ink from one color and wipe it back and forth on the white side of one of the squares. You want some dark areas and light areas. Clean the sponge with water and repeat for the other color. Let dry or use a heat tool to dry quickly.
- Cut with the largest rectangle die from the Stitched So Sweetly die set cut both the Highland Heather and Rococo Rose Cardstock with your die cutting machine.
- Use one of the paper bags from the kit. Start on the side that has the most flowers and remove about 1/16” off the edge. Then trim the other side at 2.75”. Trim off the top at 2.75” and then open the bag and trim at the fold line which should be 2.75”. You should end up with 2- 2.75” squares.
- Adhere 6 bees to a scrap piece of paper with glue dots or snail. Then cover the bees with versamark ink. I turned the ink pad over and pressed it to the top of the bees.
- Next cover the bees with clear embossing powder. Tap to remove the excess. Then heat with your heat tool. This should give your bees a pretty shinny coat. Remove the bees from the scrap paper.
- Stamp your greeting on the 2- 0.5” x 3.25” strips of whisper white cardstock. Stamp one on the right and one on the left.
- Add Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the front of a Highland Heather & Rococo Rose heart with flowers.
- Begin assembling the card by adding the rectangles to the front of the Thick Whisper White card bases. Vertical card Rococo Rose goes in the center a little to the left at an angle. Horizontal card Highland Heather goes in the center at a slight angle.
- Attach the paper bag square at an angle to the watercolor wash squares. Attached the Highland Heather wash to the square with the flowers in the bottom left corner. The Rococo Rose wash to the flowers in the bottom right corner.

- Add these two papers to the center of the rectangle at an angle. They should go on the opposite color than the rectangle. The vertical card has it a little to the right.
- Add the greeting with dimensionals. You want to try to place it straight. The saying should go over the floral design.
- Add the heart that matches the rectangle over the greeting. Add dimensionals at the top of the heart and snail at the bottom. Place it over the empty area on the strip.
- Add 3 of the bees around the card. I bent the wings up a little.

All done!

For the Horizontal Card refer to the images at the beginning of this blog post.
