Pull-Tab Pop-Up Gift Card Holder - November 2023 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Idea - Stampin' Up!

Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey.

Hi Everyone and welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here on creative chelsey. This week I am going to share with you great card ideas you can make with one set of supplies from this month’s kit. Today I am sharing my fourth alternative card using the November 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit called Warm Wishes. This festive kit creates 8 treat boxes, 4 in two different designs.

Today I am sharing a fun pull-tab pop-up gift card holder idea. You are going to be so surprised at how easy this card is to make.

1- Cut your cardbase from Basic White Cardstock. Along the 8 ½” side cut at 7”, along the 11” side cut 10”. Score in the middle at 5”.

2- Separate the front of the Warm Wishes Cardbase at 5” (if you are using a smaller size cardbase I will try to give tips).

3- Measure with the top of the card front along the top edge of your paper trimmer at 2” on the left. With your cutting blade in the center of the paper, cut from 2 ½” down to 6”, see video. (if you are using a smaller cardbase, subtract 1” from the width, divide that number in half – i.e. 4 ¼” – 1” = 3 ¼” divided in half 1 5/8”. This is the number you place the edge of your cardstock. Make your cut underneath where you will place your house or other element.)

4- Slide your card front down one inch and repeat the same cut.

5- Use the 1” scrap from cutting your cardbase. Trim it a little smaller – 15/16”. The length doesn’t really matter. From the other piece, cut a ½” x 4” strip.

6- Slide the ½” strip under the middle section on the card front so the two ends are on the back. Fold each end over the strip. You will need to trim it down. Glue the ends together so it will slide smoothly up and down the middle section. Make sure to test it! If it doesn’t work, cut it and do it again. TIP: Keep adhesive off of the middle strip!

7- Measure the middle point at the bottom of the card front, make a small mark. Use a circle punch to cut out a curved shape. The mark will help you eye ball the center of the card front.

8- On the back place the Old Olive piece over the sliding piece and lined up with the bottom covering the curved opening. Place any size dimensionals around the Old Olive piece so help keep it in place. Remove the Old Olive piece and slide the white center piece as far to the top as it will go, add adhesive to the white piece and adhere the Old Olive piece back in place. When you pull the Old Olive piece down the white piece should also move down the middle section.

9- Add more dimensionals for support to the back of the card front and add it to the cardbase. Test your Old Olive piece. The white piece should move smoothly up and down the middle section.

10- Take the 15/16” strip and attach it to the white piece. I added it underneath. Make sure the strip sits inside the two cut lines, it should not be at an angle. Fold the strip over the white piece (I forgot this step in the video – it will still work if you don’t do it, but it works better if you do.)

11- Take the house and place it on the cardbase where you want it. It should cover the cut lines in the middle. Take the bottom of the 15/16” strip and fold it over the house making a crease directly at the bottom edge of the house.

12- Remove the house and cut the excess strip about ½” above the fold. Flip the fold and attach it to the cardbase so it is under the strip.

13- Add glue to the bottom of the 15/16” strip just above the fold. Place your house back in the center of your cardbase so the fold is touching the bottom edge of the house. Pull gently on the Old Olive piece and the house should pop up. Yay!

14- Make a pull tab with either a stamp or write it on a scrap. Cut it to a tag shape and punch a small hole. Punch a hole in the center of the old olive piece. Tie together with 6” of Linen Thread.

15- Decorate the house as you wish. I used a ½” strip to stamp my greeting and flagged the ends. I placed it over the windows with dimensionals. And added a Wreath Die Cut from the kit with a dimensional over the door.

16- Pull out the Old Olive piece and slide your gift card on top. You can add adhesive if you want, but it should stay in place because of the dimensionals added along the edges.

All Done!

I have also created a video walking you through each step:
