Create A Diorama Card with the February 2023 Paper Pumpkin Sunshine & Smiles Kit - Plus a Easy Bonus Card - Stampin' Up!

Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here at Creative Chelsey. I love getting my Paper Pumpkin Kit every month and creating fun alternative projects using the supplies in the kit. Today I am sharing my second set of alternative card ideas using the February 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit called Sunshine & Smiles.

This fun kit creates 9 springtime handmade cards. These are the intended cards you can make with the kit. There are enough supplies to make three of each card. They are the perfect way to send a little note to bring sunshine & smiles to your loved ones.

What I like to do is use the supplies in the kit along with some other products and create different or alternative projects. Today I am sharing with another two cards.  The first card creates a diorama with three different layers. The second card uses the openings and the leftover pieces to create a cute pond scene.

If this project inspires you to create something, I would love for you to tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey | #creativechelsey or email me at chelsey@creativechelsey.com.

Card #1

Before creating this card, trace the opening from the Gray Cut Out piece onto Balmy Blue Cardstock for the pond in the second card.

1- Separate the front of the Blue Cardbase from the back at 4 ¼”. Then rotate the back Rain Pattern piece and cut in half again at 2 ¾”. This will give you two pieces that are 2 ¾” x 4 ¼”.

2- On the front piece trim off 1/8” from all sides. This will give you a finish size of 4” x 5 ¼”.

3- Attach one of the Rain Pattern pieces to the back of the Large Gray Cut Out Piece with dimensionals. I liked the opening with the smaller area at the bottom.

4- Use the scrap Hill pieces from the first set of alternative cards to create a hill at the bottom of the opening on the front blue checkered piece. You can layer the pieces to create a large or small hill. Use dimensionals to give depth.

5- Add the Blue Checkered piece to the Gray Piece with dimensionals. There will be a very small border of Gray around the blue piece. Tuck in any more Hill pieces behind the Gray piece if you want.

6- Add the Rabbit Die Cut to the right side of the opening with a dimensional or two. Add the Umbrella Die with a dimensional so that rabbit is holding it.

7- Stamp your greeting on the large label and attach it across the opening above the Umbrella. You can stack two dimensionals together so it sits at the same level as the top layer.

8- Add two Cloud Die Cuts above the greeting.

9- Add everything to the front of the Basic Gray Cardbase. Make sure to support the outside edge with dimensionals.

All Done!

Card #2

1- Layer the 2 ¾” x 4 ¼” Blue Checked pattern in the center of the Cardbase.

2- Cut out the pond shape from Balmy Blue Cardstock. See the note above under the Card #1 Title.

3- Use a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue Ink and add a blend along the edge. Place the pond on the left bottom corner of the cardbase with dimensionals.

4- Stamp two Frog in Memento Black Ink. Then clean the stamp and flip it over so the flat side can be inked. Then stamp the flat side in Old Olive twice without reinking, this will give you a nice Lily Pad shape in two tones.

5- Stamp your greeting in Memento Black on a label from the kit. Add it to the pond on the right side with dimensionals.

6- Color the Frogs with Old Olive Stampin’ Blend Markers & Light Daffodil Delight with a little Color Lifter for the tummy. Fussy cut out the frogs & lily pads.

6- Add a frog to each lily pad with a dimensional. Adhere them around the greeting.

7- Separate the four leftover small flowers into two groups of two. Add these with dimensionals.

8- Create a faux bow with 8” or 10” of Linen Thread. Add it under the greeting on the right side.

9- Use the Coastal Cabana Raindrop Enamel Shapes around the lily pads to create a splash look.

All Done!
