Create Interlocking Lock & Key with the January 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Alternative Card Ideas - Stampin' Up!

Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here at Creative Chelsey. I love getting my Paper Pumpkin Kit every month and creating fun alternative projects using the supplies in the kit. Today I am sharing my third alternative idea using the January 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Key To My Heart.

This kit comes with everything you need to make 9 Valentines Day Theme Greeting Cards, 3 in three different designs. This kit is filled with so many fun images & patterns. I like how the lock & key idea is unique and different than the typical Valentines Hearts.

Plus I changed the background pattern on these two different cards. Which one is your favorite? THIS or THAT?

What I like to do is use the supplies in the kit along with some other products and create different or alternative projects. Today I am sharing with you
how to create interlocking lock & keys for this fun card.

If this project inspires you to create something, I would love for you to tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey | #creativechelsey or email me at chelsey@creativechelsey.com

1- Trim either an envelope or the Fresh Freesia Crosshatch Cardbase to 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”.

2- Heat Emboss your greeting in White Embossing Powder in the upper right corner of the angled Fresh Freesia piece from the kit. Make sure to use Embossing Buddy to keep the powder from sticking to other areas.

3- Add more depth to the left side of the angled Fresh Freesia piece by blending with a Blending Brush more Fresh Freesia ink. You can also add a little over the greeting to make it pop.

4- Layering the angled Fresh Freesia piece on the Crosshatch design about ¾” from the bottom with dimensionals. Place it so the top left corner meets with the left side of the card front and trim off the overhang. Add this to the front of the cardbase.

5- Add the Vellum Strip about ¼” from the bottom of the Fresh Freesia piece.

6- Heat Emboss two keys in Gold Embossing Powder on some white cardstock. Make sure to use Embossing Buddy to keep the powder from sticking to other areas. Fussy cut out. Use a hole punch (3/16”) to remove the area inside the top of the key.

7- Add the Key to the Lock:

(1) Cut a slit at the top of the key. Slide the key onto the lock.

(2) Use a small glue dot on the back of the key to cover the slit. Add a small piece of paper over the glue dot.

(3) Trim off any overhang.

(4) Repeat on the second lock & key.

8- Add these locks to the left side of the Fresh Fressia piece with dimensionals.

9- Add Gold Sequins if you want.

I have also created a video walking you through each step:
