Hidden Message Slider Card - Alternative Idea February 2022 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Safari Celebration

Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here at Creative Chelsey. I love getting my Paper Pumpkin Kit every month and creating fun alternative projects using the supplies in the kit. Today I am sharing my second alternative idea using the February 2022 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Safari Celebration.

This kit comes with everything you need to make 9 Cards, 3 in three different designs. What I like to do is use the supplies in the kit along with some other products and create different or alternative cards. Today I am sharing a Hidden Message Slider Card Idea. I love creating alternative projects with Paper Pumpkin Kits so make sure to come back for more as I continue to create with this month’s kit.

If this project inspires you to create something, I would love for you to tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey | #creativechelsey or email me at chelsey@creativechelsey.com.

It is Paper Pumpkin Week here on Creative Chelsey. This is the second alternative this week. If you would like to see all my alternatives check out the playlist here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL40dV1oxpkNlKyWrokvtrCQ8b4LnKSZmO

Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine 149653 $120.00

1- Trim a cardbase from the kit to 4” x 5 ¼”. Cut a 1” x 3 ¾” rectangle from the inside. I began by measuring from the bottom edge at 1”. Place the blade in the center of the cardstock and cut to ¾” & 4 ½”. Slide the cardstock to 2” from the top edge and cut again from the center to ¾” & 4 ½”.  Rotate and line up the sides to ¾” and cut to the two horizontal cut lines. Repeat on the other side.

2- Open a coordinating envelope and cut two pieces, 1” x 3 ¾” and 1 ½” x 4 ½”.

3- Stamp the leaf & splatter image around the card front. I used Bumblebee & Pear Pizzazz ink.

4- On the back line up the 1 ½” strip over the opening. Use your grid paper to make sure it is centered over the opening. Add long stips of dimensionals along each edge. You don’t want them to touch the 1 ½” strip, they are there to guide the strip when it is moving. Add dimensionals in the corners for support.

5- Mark on the right edge of the opening the center 1 ½” from the bottom and use a circle punch to cut an area for the tab.

6- On the cardbase stamp some leaves in coordinating colors that will show when the slider is opened. You can find the correct placement by hovering the card front over the cardbase. I used Bumblebee and Pear Pizzazz ink.

7- Add the card front to the cardbase. Add the 1” strip above the opening and decorate with die cuts from the kit. Stamp your hidden message inside the opening. Make sure you don’t have ink on the clear block or it could get on the card front.

8- Slide in the 1 ½” strip to cover the opening. Add two dimensionals along the left edge of the strip. Attach the elephant die cut over the dimensionals.

9- Punch a hole on the right side of the slider. Fold 8" of ribbon and thread through the hole. String the ends through the loop and pull gently. Color 5 embellishments with a coordinating Stampin’ Blend Marker and add to your card.

All Done!

I have also created a video walking you through each step and some of the details from the other cards:
