Nuts About Squirrels - Handmade Card TECHNIQUE - Use An Embossing Folder Like A Background Stamp

Today I would like to share with you an easy technique to get more from your Embossing Folders by using them like a Background Stamp. I also am excited to share the Nuts About Squirrels Stamp Set. I love the fun personality the cute squirrels in this set have. It is so easy to incorporate other stamp sets as well, like I did with the Plentiful Plants Set. I hope you enjoy this handmade card tutorial and come back for more. I would love to see your finished creations that are inspired by this tutorial! 1- To create the background with your Embossing Folder ink up the inside of the front side of the Timber Folder with Crumb Cake Ink. Place the un-inked side on your table and lay your Crumb Cake cardstock in the center. Close the ink side over the cardstock and add pressure by rubbing the folder with your hand to transfer the ink to the cardstock. Place this in the center of your cardbase.

To clean your folder, you can wipe with your Simply Shammy or run water over it.

2- Cut out a 1 ¾” x 3 ¾” rectangle with the Stitched Rectangle Dies in Crumb Cake Cardstock.

On the Cajun Craze Strip stamp the solid leaf image in Cajun Craze ink. Angle the right side so the strip is about 3 ¼” in length. Add to the center of the Crumb Cake rectangle with the left side off the edge slightly.

Angle the right side of the Gold Metallic Strip so the length is about 4”. Adhere below the Cajun Craze strip with the left edge off the edge slightly.

3- Stamp the outline image of the Squirrel in Early Espresso Ink on Basic White Cardstock. The with Cajun Craze stamp the inside image of the Squirrel and stamp off on scrap paper then on to the outline image. Fussy cut out.

4- Add the squirrel to the center of the Cajun Craze strip with dimensionals.

5- Stamp two different leaf images from the Plentiful Plants Set using the Stamparatus. I did the smaller one in Mossy Meadow and the larger one in Old Olive. I like to stamp these images two times to make the ink a little darker which is so easy with the Stamparatus. Cut out with the coordinating dies.

6- Add these leaves to the Crumb Cake rectangle. The larger Old Olive plant goes behind the squirrel with one leaf coming over the tail of the squirrel. The smaller Mossy Meadow plant goes in front on the right side with the bottom tucked into the Gold Strip.

7- Stamp the greeting Early Espresso Ink on the 3/8” strip. Angle the ends with your Paper Snips. Place it between the two strips with dimensionals. Add everything to the cardbase with dimensionals in the bottom left corner about ¾” from the edges.

8- Add 5 Champagne Rhinestones around the card.

All Done!
