November 2021 Paper Pumpkin Peek-a-boo Window Handmade Card Alternative Idea - Stampin' Up

Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here at Creative Chelsey. I love getting my Paper Pumpkin Kit every month and creating fun alternative projects using the supplies in the kit. Today I am sharing my first alternative card idea using the November 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Gifts Galore. This kit comes with everything you need to make 9 super cute Christmas/Holiday Themed Gift Treat Boxes, 3 in three different designs. What I like to do is use the supplies in the kit along with some craft supplies and make cards. Today’s card is a simple Peek-a-boo Window Card shown with all three designs from the kit.

I would love to see your finished creations that are inspired by this tutorial! You can tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey | #creativechelsey or email me at chelsey@creativechelsey.com. I love creating alternative cards with Paper Pumpkin Kits so make sure to come back for more as I continue to create with this month’s kit

Here are the extra pieces of cardstock I used for the cards:

Pool Party Cardbase – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”

Basic White Cardbase – 5 ¼” x 8” scored at 4”

Basic White Cardstock – template 4 ¼” x 5 ½” | 7/8” x 4”

**To create the template position a 3” Circle Die Cut about 1 ¼” from the Top, 1 1/16” from the bottom, 9/16” from the sides.

From the Kit:

Large Tree

Treat Bag

Paper Clip

8” Twine

1- Begin by creating the opening for the peek-a-boo window by positioning the Tree on the smaller Basic White Cardbase. Make sure the cardbase opens from the left side. Use a little adhesive to hold it in place. It is okay if some of the tree is hanging off the edges. Position the 3” Circle die in the center of the tree. You want to have to top and bottom areas filled with the pattern. It is okay if the middle section has some unfilled spaces because it will be covered with the greeting.

2- Place the circle die, tree, & small cardbase over the Pool Party Cardbase and transfer the circle to the Pool Party cardbase with Washi Tape. It is easiest to explain in the video below. If you want to create a template so you can make multiples of this card it is also explained in the video. Cut out from the front of your cardbase with your die cutting machine.

Here are the exact measurements for where I placed my 3” Circle Die Cut about 1 ¼” from the Top, 1 1/16” from the bottom, 9/16” from the sides.

3- Double check that the tree is positioned where you want it in the window by placing the smaller cardbase inside the Pool Party Cardbase. Then add more adhesive under the tree and trim off any overhanging parts. Then glue the Basic White Cardbase into the Pool Party Cardbase.

4- Trim 4” from the top of the Plastic Treat Bag. Trim off about 1/8” from each side so the final size is about 2 ¾” x 4”. This should give you two large flat sections. Add these to the front of the cardbase over the window. Place adhesive on the sides of the circle. This should be enough to hold each piece down. Place the first section on top with a small border around the top and sides. Then add the second section at the bottom with an even border around the bottom and sides. They may overlap in the middle. That is okay as you will place your greeting there.

5- Stamp your greeting on the 7/8” x 4” Basic White strip in Flirty Flamingo ink. Add a small strip of coordinating color to the bottom. I used the leftover piece when trimming off the bottom of the tree. If needed trim it down to 3 ¾” and adhere behind the greeting with about ¼” showing. Add this over the center of the window with dimensionals.

6- Add a paper clip on the top right of the greeting and tie 8” of twine into a bow around it.

7- If you want add Shimmery Crystal Effects to the ornaments on the tree. Make sure to let it dry completely before closing the card.

All Done!
