Timeless Tulips Stamp Set from Stampin Up with Masking & Paper Ribbon Techniques -Artisan Design Tip

Today I would like to share with you a couple fun techniques I used to create this beautiful Handmade Card. The first technique is masking. You can use this technique with many different stamp sets to create a layering look to your images. The second technique is how to create a Paper Ribbon using Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up. Paper Ribbons give you so many new options for adding texture and color to your projects. I hope you enjoy this handmade card tutorial and come back for more. I would love to see your finished creations that are inspired by this tutorial! 1- Create the Masks for the Tulips.

Stamp your Small & Medium Tulip images over the sticky area on a Sticky Post It Note in any color. Fussy cut right along the edge of the image. Create enough masks to cover all the small & medium tulips you want to stamp on your card. I needed 3 small and 3 medium.

2- When stamping with masks you work from the front to the back. So we will stamp the small tulips first. I stamped these in Polished Pink ink. Start about middle of the Basic White Cardstock and stamp two near each other and one on the other side a little higher. Then cover each stamped tulip with a matching mask.

3- Stamp the medium size tulip in Calypso Coral in a grouping of three in the center of the card. You do want to stamp over the masks a little to create depth. Add the matching masks over the medium tulips.

4- Stamp the large tulip in Pale Papaya near the top of the cardstock. Again make sure to stamp over the other flowers for depth and layering.

5- With one of the stem images stamp a stem for each flower in Old Olive ink.

6- Next stamp some leaves along each stem in Old Olive ink.

7- Remove the masks to see the magic!

8- Stamp your choice of greeting on one of the Basic White Cardstock in Polished Pink ink. Then cut out with one of the Tasteful Label Dies.

9- Paper Ribbon: Begin with 2 strips of Designer Series Paper that are slightly larger (3/4”) in width than your final size (1/2”). Glue them together with liquid glue so the same pattern is showing on the front and back. Trim each side at 1/8” so you don’t see any of the inside pattern showing. Final size ½” strip.

10- Depending on your size of label you may need to trim the length of the strip. I trimmed it to 11”. Then flag each end. You can use the Banners Pick A Punch or a pair of Paper Snips.

11- On the back of the greeting add adhesive and attach the middle of the strip to the back. Then wrap back and forth to create a “Z” shape.

12- Attach a fun pattern to the left edge of the stamped tulips with about ¼” showing. Add to the front of the cardbase with dimensionals.

13- Then place the greeting with dimensionals in the bottom right corner. Then add three Matte Black Dots to finish the card.

All Done!
