Today I am sharing another card from my Stampin’ Up 2021 Artisan Design Team showcase project in March 2021.
If you would like to see all my projects together you can visit my blog post here: http://creativechelsey.blogspot.com/2021/03/artisan-design-team-march-2021-monthly.html
For this card I wanted to focus on just the Hey Birthday Chick Bundle which includes the Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set & Birthday Chick Dies. These fun images are so cute and work so well together to create this one of a kind birthday card for anyone. I love how staking the images together really adds to the fun humor of this card. I hope you enjoy this tutorials and are inspired to make something creative today.

1- Stamp your images in Memento Black Ink. 1 – large chicken, 3 – balloons, 2 – cute chick in egg, 2 – cupcake chickens.
2- Color using the Stampin’ Blend Markers
Large Chicken: Light Smoky Slate along the edges and
shadows in the body to create a white chicken. Take the color lifter and blend
the shadows a little. Light Poppy Parade on top “comb” & under the beak “wattle”
(I looked it up those are really the names of the parts) and Dark So Saffron
for the beak.
Chick in Egg: Light Smoky Slate along the shell, blend into
the shell with the Color Lifter. Light So Saffron for the Chick add some shadow
with the Dark So Saffron. Beak, Legs, Feet – Light Cinnamon Cider. Hat – Light Poppy
Parade & Light Pretty Peacock.
Cupcake – Light Smoky Slate for shadows on the frosting, Wrapper – Light Poppy Parade & Light Pretty Peacock. Candle – Light Poppy Parade or Light Pretty Peacock & Dark So Saffron.
Balloon – Pretty Peacock, Poppy Parade, So Saffron –
Start with the light color as a highlight. Then fill in the rest of the balloon
with the dark. Then blend where the two tones meet with light.
4- Cut 3 rectangles from Old Olive, So Saffron, Pretty Peacock cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle Die (3 ¾” x 1 ¾”). Stamp the confetti stamp in coordinating ink colors randomly on each rectangle. Distress the edges if you would like with a pair of paper snips, fold up any corners you want.
5- Create the banner: Stamp the greeting in Poppy Parade on Basic White Cardstock. Line up the same rectangle die vertically so the greeting is at the top, add washi tape to hold in place. Run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.
Cut ½” from the bottom of the greeting.
Take a corner of the rectangle die and place under the greeting, then line up the edge with a corner at the bottom of the greeting. This will cut one side of the banner. Use washi tape to hold in place as you run it through your Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine.
Note – to get a nice sharp corner at the bottom flip the cardstock over and make sure the cut line lines up with the corner and not the edge of the die.
Repeat on the other side.
6- Color 16” White Bakers Twine with the Dark Poppy Parade Blend Marker. Let dry.
7- Add a piece of In Good Taste DSP (4 ¼” x 5 ½”) to the front of the card (any wood grain pattern will work). Distress the edges with a pair of paper snips. You can also scratch the pattern to remove the top layer and show the white underneath.
8- Add the three rectangles to the front of the card at different angles. The middle piece should sit on top of the other two just slightly with dimensionals.
9- Add the large chicken with dimensionals in the bottom right corner. Place the small chick teeter tottering on the hand of the large chick with dimensionals.
10- Place the balloons above with dimensionals. Start with the Pretty Peacock on the right and have the little chick hold the string. Remove the string from the Poppy Parade balloon and tuck the balloon behind the Pretty Peacock. Attach the string to the So Saffron balloon string to make a longer string and add it to the left of the group, hide the string seam behind the Pretty Peacock balloon.
11- Add the two cupcakes with dimensionals to the left of the large chicken.
12- Add the Poppy Parade twine to the back of the greeting in a faux bow shape. Add to the card on the left with dimensionals.
All Done!
