Today I have for you another Double Die Cut Technique. This one uses two dies to create a window frame for your handmade card. I love how the technique gives you a seamless look between the frame and image. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and give it a try. I would love to see your finished creations that are inspired by this tutorial! You can tag me in any social media post using @creativechelsey or #creativechelsey.

Tip: You will need a broken cutting plate to do this technique.
1- Begin by placing the 4 1/2” x 3 1/8” stitched rectangle die in the center of the front of your card base. Lightly trace the inside rectangle with a pencil.
2- Use the Stamparatus to position the large flower stamp in either the top left corner or the bottom right corner. You want to make sure that the flower image only has 2 connection points with the traced rectangle shape (you may want to watch the video below for more clarification). Stamp with Memento Black ink.
3- Open your card and line up the coordinating flower die. Use tape only on the inside of the rectangle to hold the die in place. Place the die on your magnetic platform and bottom cutting plate. Place the broken cutting plate over one of the connecting points and the part of the flower/die that is inside of the window frame. You will want about ¼” leniency into the outside frame at the connection point. This will give you some room to move the frame around and get it centered on your card. (you may want to watch the video below for more clarification). Run through your die cutting machine.
4- Reposition the broken cutting plate over the second connecting point in the same way, with ¼” leniency and only covering the flower/die that is inside the window frame. Run through your die cutting machine.
5- Remove the flower die. Slide the rectangle die behind the flower and position it as close to the center of the card as you can. The die should not be over any part of the flower. Use a full cutting plate on top and bottom and run through your die cutting machine. Remove the rectangle die.
6- Erase any pencil lines that run through the flower image. Watercolor the flower and leaves in your choice of ink colors. Be careful not to do to much, the Thick Whisper White cardstock warps easily. I used:
Daffodil Delight for the center of the flower
Petal Pink for the base of each petal of the flower and left the tips white.
Mossy Meadow for the leaves
Early Espresso for the steam/branch
7- Place the Mossy Meadow cardstock centered inside the card and close the front. Use a pencil and lightly trace the area where you want to stamp the greeting.
8- Place the cardstock in the Stamparatus and line up the greeting within this space. Pick up the stamp with the clear plate. Use a dryer sheet to remove the static. Stamp the greeting in VersaMark ink. Cover with white embossing powder, shake off the excess, and heat with a heat tool.
9- In the lid of the VersaMark ink pad place one drop from the refill and use your aqua painter to thin it out. It will get bubbly. Use the tip of the aqua painter and splatter the ink over the Mossy Meadow cardstock. Let dry slightly. Use soap and water to clean your aqua painter. Cover the splatter with white embossing powder, tap off excess, and heat.
10- Erase any visible pencil lines. Place the Mossy Meadow behind the window frame so the greeting is centered in the area. If you need to trim a little from a side or two that is okay. Attach it with strong adhesive like Tear and Tape just at the top.
11- String 16” of twine around the Mossy Meadow cardstock and tie a bow near the flower. Attach the bottom of the Mossy Meadow cardstock with Tear and Tape. Use some dimensionals under the leaves of the flower to pop them up a little.
12- Use Wink of Stella and add a little glimmer to the flower.
All Done!
