Paper Pumpkin February 2020 Alternatives - Lovely Day | Birthday Handmade Cards | Stampin Up

Today’s tutorial is another alternative project using Stampin Up’s February Paper Pumpkin Kit Lovely Day. The first card is very similar to the original card in the kit, I just turned it into a shaker and changed the sentiment. The second card is my favorite. I use the Sale-a-bration Happy Birthday to You Stamp Set. I love the dark blue with the light pink, so pretty. I love creating alternative cards with Paper Pumpkin Kits so make sure to come back for more videos as I continue to create with this month’s kit.

Card#1
1- Remove the circle from the blue flag cardstock in the kit (keep the circle). Cut the paper down ¼” from the left side and bottom. Stamp “Happy Birthday” in Pretty Peacock ink below the circle and to the left of the cardstock. Stamp “to you” on a piece of scrap whisper white cardstock.
2- Use Rococo Rose and stamp the 3 bars image from the Paper Pumpkin Stamp Set inside the cake cardstock from the kit. Then use Stampin’ Blends to color in the rest of the cake image. I used:
Light Calypso Coral and Dark Petal Pink to the frosting flowers
Light Crumb Cake to the rest of the frosting
Light Old Olive, Dark Pool Party, Dark Daffodil Delight for the sprinkles and candle.
3- To create the shaker card: Start by adding the window sheet behind the frame created by the scallop circle. Add sequins on top of the cake image, keep them in the center of the cardstock. On the Back of the frame, place a strip of foam adhesive – keep it out of the window so you don’t see it from the front. Make sure the ends come together so no sequins can fall out. Remove the paper backing and then center it over the cake image with the sequins.
4- Wrap 16” of both the blue and yellow twine. Wrap under Happy Birthday and tie a bow on the right side.
5- Cut out the words “to you” leaving some space on the left and right for a flag shape. Add this with some strong adhesive to the twine under the word “birthday”.
6- Cut 1 Pretty Peacock cardbase from the kit. Cut from the bottom 1/8”. It should be 5 3/8”. Then rotate the cardbase and cut at 4 1/8” then flip and cut another 4 1/8”. This will remove the score line that is in the middle and give you 2 card fronts that are 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”.
7- Add the Pretty Peacock card front to one Whisper White cardbase. Add some snail or liquid glue to the back of the cake cardstock and use dimensionals in the corners to give support. Add to the center of the card.
All done!

Card #2
1- Add the Petal Pink cardstock to the right side of the Pretty Peacock card front. Tie 16” of yellow twine around the base with a bow on the right side. Add this to one of the white card bases. I forgot to add the twine in the image.
2- On the white cardstock stamp the tiered cake image in Memento Black ink. Use the Stampin’ Blends Makers to add color.
Light Calypso Coral, Dark Petal Pink and Dark Daffodil Delight to the flowers & berries
Light and Dark Old Olive to the leaves
Light Crumb Cake to the cake in the shadow areas
Light Smoky Slate to the cake stand
3- Add the cake to the card over the Petal Pink cardstock near the top so a little pink is peaking through. The yellow twine should be below this piece. Stamp “birthday” to the left of a tag from the kit in Pretty Peacock ink. Add it over the yellow twine. Add the word “wishes” from the kit below “birthday” over the Petal Pink cardstock.
4- Add sequins from the kit
All done!
