I love birds and this cute Christmas Cardinal card is the perfect card for me. I used the Stampin Up Toile Christmas Stamp Set to create this Handmade Christmas Card. In this tutorial I show you a fun new technique - how to stamp with markers. This technique give the stamps a really fun multi-color look that helps the images pop from the background. The fun layout also provides a frame for the bird to sit in, almost like your looking through a window. I hope you enjoy this card and give this technique a try.

- Starting with the lighter color first, Daffodil Delight, color in the beak of the Cardinal Stamp with the larger tip of the marker.
- With the Real Red marker, color in the bird - except for the feet and around the face. (see image 5)
- With the Black marker, color in the feet and head of the bird. (see image 5)
- Once the stamp has been fully covered, blow with HOT air (like your warming up your hands) on the stamp to add moisture back into the ink.
- Stamp
- With the branch image do the same technique. Start with the Crumb Cake marker and color in the branch.
- With the Garden Green marker color in the leaves.
- With the Real Red marker color in the berries.
- Blow HOT air on the stamp and stamp on paper.
- Use the Christmas Wishes Greeting and the Black marker and color the whole stamp
- Add HOT breath and stamp
- Use the matching dies from the Christmas Cardinal Dies and cut out the images.
- Emboss the Crumb Cake cardstock with the Tin Tile embossing folder.
- Add two strips of DSP to the shorter edges of the crumb cake cardstock. It the strips a little long so I could fold it over. I also like the red side showing, but you could do the green
- Add a strip of ribbon to each side where the DSP and cardstock meet. Cut it a little big and fold over the edges to the back.
- Adhere the crumb cake cardstock to the center of the cardbase. I used liquid adhesive.
- Add the branch image at a slight angle to the bottom half of the card. I used glue dots.
- Next add the cardinal so he sits on the branch. I used dimensionals to pop him up.
- Cut some leaves from the Christmas Cardinal Die in gold foil paper. I cut 2 of each shape.
- Run some snail along the back of the greeting. Adhere one larger and one small leaves around the bottom left of the greeting and the other two around the top right. Adhere it to the card with dimensionals over the steam of the branch and the tail of the bird.
All done!
I have also made a video showing the process to make this card. Give it a watch.
