Summertime Happy Day Handmade Card - April 2021 Paper Pumpkin Subscription Kit So Cool - Stampin Up

Welcome to Paper Pumpkin Week here at Creative Chelsey. Today is my fourth alternative card idea using the April 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit – So Cool. I used the Watermelon and Rainbow Cardbases for this card and turned them into a regular size cardbase. Then arranged the stickers on top to create a fun Summertime Happy Day Handmade Card.

I love creating alternative cards with Paper Pumpkin Kits so make sure to come back for more as I continue to create with this month’s kit. I would love to see your finished creations that are inspired by this tutorial! Here are the dimensions and pieces you will need to create these cards:

From the Kit:

Rainbow / Watermelon Cardbase

Circle Die Cut

21” & 10” Twine

1” x 5” Rainbow Stripe Pattern from Envelope

Stickers

Extra Cardstock:

Calypso Coral / Blackberry Bliss Cardbase – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”

Petal Pink / Purple Posy – 3 ½” x 5 ¼”

Here is a list of the supplies I used to make the cards:

Petal Pink Cardstock 146985 $8.75

Calypso Coral Cardstock 122925 $8.75

Blackberry Bliss Cardstock 133675 $8.75

Purple Posy Cardstock 150881 $8.75

Calypso Coral Ink Pad 147101 $7.50

Blackberry Bliss Ink Pad 147092 $7.50

Rhinestone Basic Jewels 144220 $5.00

Paper Trimmer 152392 $25.00

Simply Shammy 147042 $8.00

Stampin’ Seal Adhesive 152813 $8.00

Multipurpose Liquid Glue 110755 $4.00

Tear & Tape Adhesive 138995 $7.00

Dimensionals 104430 $4.00

Clear Block D 118485 $8.50

Paper Snips 103579 $10.00

Bone Folder 102300 $7.00

Stampin' Pierce Mat 126199 $5.00

Take Your Pick Tool 144107 $10.00

Grid Paper 130148 $12.50

Embossing Buddy / Baby Powder

1- Remove the front of the half circle card from the back. You can use a paper trimmer or paper snips. Cut a 1” x 5” strip from leftover pieces of the envelope from other alternative cards. Add this to the bottom of the cardbase.

2- Stamp the scatter dots in a coordinating color to the cardbase in the top right and bottom left corner. I used a second-generation technique (stamp a second time without reinking) to get a lighter variation to the ink color. Add this to the top of the cardbase.

3- Add the Watermelon or Rainbow over the solid cardstock. With 21” of Twine wrap around the bottom of the card and tie a knot. Add a second piece of 10” of twine and tie a knot. Then take both strands and create a double bow on the left side of the card.

4- Choose the stickers you want to add to your card. Remove the stickiness from the back with powder from an embossing buddy or baby powder. Add to the area near your bow with dimensionals.

5- Stamp your greeting “Happy Day” from the Happy Birthday Stamp. Ink up just the word “happy” in Bermuda Bay, use washi tape to cover any part of the stamp that was inked that you don’t want stamped. Stamp “happy” in the top center of the circle die cut. Clean your stamp. Then ink just “day” and again cover any part of the image that was inked with washi tape. Stamp under “happy” on the circle die. Add this to your card near the die cuts with dimensionals.

6- Add some rhinestones for a little more bling.

All Done!

Alternative Fun Gate Fold Handmade Card using April 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit - So Cool by Stampin' Up!

Here are the dimensions and pieces you will need to create these cards:

From the Kit:

Rainbow or Watermelon Cardbase

Stickers

Circle Die Cut

Silver Glimmer Paper Starburst

Envelope

10” Twine

Extra Cardstock:

Pool Party Cardbase 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”

Bermuda Bay Cardstock ¾” x 5 ½”

Here is a list of the supplies I used to make the cards:

Pool Party Cardstock 122924 $8.75

Bermuda Bay Cardstock 131197 $8.75

Rhinestone Basic Jewels 144220 $5.00

Simply Scored Scoring Tool 122334 $30.00

Paper Trimmer 152392 $25.00

Simply Shammy 147042 $8.00

Stampin’ Seal Adhesive 152813 $8.00

Multipurpose Liquid Glue 110755 $4.00

Tear & Tape Adhesive 138995 $7.00

Dimensionals 104430 $4.00

Clear Block D 118485 $8.50

Paper Snips 103579 $10.00

Bone Folder 102300 $7.00

Stampin' Pierce Mat 126199 $5.00

Take Your Pick Tool 144107 $10.00

Embossing Buddy or Baby Powder

1- Remove 1” from one side of the Pool Party Cardbase. So when you fold it in half there is an opening where the other cardbase can be attached.

2- Stamp “You Are So Cool” in Bermuda Bay randomly on the front of the card. Stamp a second time without reinking to create a shadow effect. (If your first stamp is stamped off the cardbase, you will need to reink and stamp off the cardbase, before creating the shadow effect) Tip – if you are using the Watermelon Cardbase the Pool Party cardbase fold should be at the top and opens from the bottom. When using the Rainbow Cardbase the Pool Party cardbase fold should be at the bottom and open from the top. Make sure to stamp the greeting so it reads the right way when on the cardbase. Watch the video below for more details.

3- Open and cut the envelope pattern to 1 ½” x 5 ½”. Add this to the bottom cardbase so you can see it when the card is open and closed. Add the Bermuda Bay strip to the edge of cardbase at the opening.

4- Adhere the Watermelon or Rainbow cardbase to the inside of the Pool Party cardbase at an angle, so it can close over the stamped side of the Pool Party cardbase.

5- Decorate the front of the card with a sticker or two. If you want the popped up with dimensionals you can add some powder from an embossing buddy or baby powder to the back to remove the stickiness.

6- Then stamp the greeting “hey there” in the circle die cut. Add a faux bow to the back of the greeting and attach with a dimensional on the Silver Starburst piece. Then attach to the card near the stickers. Add some rhinestones.

All Done!

2- Cut one Popsicle Cardbase in half on the score line. Attach the white one to the white one on the other cardbase with a piece of copy paper as a hinge to the back. (watch video below for details).

3- Stamp the scattered dots image in Bermuda Bay in the upper left corner and the bottom right corner, when the card is folded. Use second generation stamping (don’t reink for the second stamped image) to get different shades of color. Stamp the greetings “You are so cool” & “Happy Birthday” on the two banner die cuts in Bermuda Bay.

4- Attach the Popsicle to the center of the card by adding adhesive to the back of the last white panel and add it to the center of the opened the card. Then fold the card and add adhesive in the center of the 1 ½” panel and attaching the front panel of the Popsicle to it. Make sure to adhere the front when the card is folded. It won’t be able to open totally flat.

5- Add the two 1 3/8” x 2 ½” pattern pieces to the card. One on the left side of the popsicle at 1 ¾” from the bottom and the second to the right of the popsicle at the same height. Trim off any over hang.

Place 10” of twine on the back of the “You are so cool” label in a faux bow and adhere to the center of the belly band with dimensionals. Slip over the card to hold in place.

Here is the cutting guide:

You can download and print from this link:

 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BzISO1cqCP_TGBSxTEDZ7Bsh2IOzwBeY/view?usp=sharing

Card #3

1- Follow the Cutting Guide. You can cut both sheets of DSP at the same time. I recommend starting with the vertical cuts at 4”. This will give you 3 – 4” strips that you can then cut down to the size you need for each card. Keep the extra pieces in baggies so you don’t loose anything. When working with a pattern that is directional. Make sure when you cut the 3 – 4” sections that the top of the pattern is at the top of your Paper Trimmer.

2- Place the large 3” x 4 ¼” DSP piece on the top of the cardbase of a coordinating color. Add the second 2 ¼” piece at the bottom. They should touch in the middle.

3- Cut a 3 ¼” x 4 ½” piece of vellum and add it to the middle.

4- If you have a large die cut, cut it from a foil sheet, I used silver foil. Place in the center.

5- Add any stamped images or greetings in the center of the die cut.

(Repeat for a second card of #3)

Card #4

1- Place the (4) DSP pieces 2”  2 5/8” on the cardbase. If you have similar color pieces add them in opposite corners. There should be an even border around the outside edge and a smaller gap between the pieces.

2- Decorate with coordinating stamps, greetings & dies

(no second card)
